how do you rank the QB's this year?

Postby LegendoftheFall » Wed May 27, 2009 8:18 am

im not sure what to do with alot of these QB questions. Most have some issues...here's what i think, would like to hear your opinions...

1. Brees (i think he's the clear cut #1 with his consistancy and all the other QBs having issues)
2. P.Manning (new OC)
3. Rivers (will a healthy LT cut into his TD passes?)
4.Brady (return from injury)
5. Warner (SB hangover? Boldin in limbo)
6. Romo (no TO)
7. Rodgers (will he be this years Derrick Anderson?)
8. Cutler (bears WRs cant help his numbers)
9.Mcnabb (always an injury risk, no longer the running threat)
10.Rothlisburger

I think these guys will have much improved situations and could put up top 10 numbers: Hasselback, Matt Ryan, Trent Edwards, Schaub, Palmer

which of these concerns will be more/less of an issue? thanks for any input.

I agree (though i'd probably drop Cutler out of the top-10). It's Brady and Brees, then everyone else. Rivers will be drafted too high in most drafts - a healthy running game and a healthy defense, combined with an easy schedule, means that Rivers won't need to be throwing near as much as he did last year.

I would rank Brees, Brady and Peyton as 1 a, b and c. Everyone of those qb's can end up at the #1 spot at the end of the season and all will put up big numbers this year. As far as the rest of them I would rank them this way:
4- Warner- if Fitz, Boldin and Breaston are all there, he should post big numbers again
5-Rivers- Gates should be healthy, LT hopefully can stay healthy and they should play well as an offense
6-McNabb- improved o-line and receiving corps, he could push for top 3 if they all stay healthy
7-Rodgers- if the run game is there he can put up big numbers with there wr's
8-Romo-is a real wildcard, but should still post good numbers this year, a lot will depend on Roy
9-Palmer- is healthy, if he has a running game and a decent o-line he will post some good numbers
10-Orton- a long shot hear, but with there offensive line, receivers and a improved running game(if they are healthy) he could sneak into the top 10, plus if you look at his 08' stats he was having a great year until the high ankle sprain and then he rushed back from it.

You will NOT want to be the one who drafts Philip Rivers like a top 5 QB this season...QBs rarely ever duplicate seasons where they scored high amounts of fantasy points with limited attempts. With a healthy LT and Sproles around as well, probably with an improved defense, you won't see Rivers pass any more than last year and he was below 500 attempts passing which doesn't bode well for top 5 fantasy numbers.

After adjustment I have them like this overall:
1. Brees
2. Manning
3. Brady
4. Rodgers
5. Warner
6. McNabb
7. Ryan
8. Romo
9. Rivers
10. Schaub

How does Manning lose Marvin Harrison and his longtione OC, Tom Moore, and move up the list of QBs?

Don't get it.

I like Brees, then Brady, then Manning.

1. Brees
2. Brady
3. P. Manning
4. Rodgers
5. Warner
6. Rivers
7. McNabb
8. Romo
9. Schaub
10. Ryan
11. Cutler
12. Palmer

Well...Harrison was a non-factor last season so it's not like it's new for him not to be around. He had 60 catches but he didn't do what Marvin always did before so it really could have been anyone out there...he was a shell of his old self already. Manning pretty much did the playcalling anyway so losing the OC doesn't hurt as much as it might with other QBs and he's still got 2 very reliable WRs in Wayne and Gonzalez along with an excellent TE in Dallas Clark and RBs Addai and Brown to throw to as well...I'd say weapons aren't an issue there.

Brady gets bumped down slightly, at least on my lists, because he's coming off a major knee surgery...the reports are good (they ALWAYS are) but I want to see him on the field performing like he did in the past before I put him above someone as reliable as Peyton Manning is every season.

Everybody needs a sounding board. Manning can't be his own OC...this ain't the 1950's. (What's next, Manning drawing plays in the dirt before breaking the huddle?) LOL.

I've heard Manning's pissed at the club in regards to Tom Moore leaving. Maybe Marvin wasn't his old self anymore, but he was a security blanket for Peyton, those two knew each other well. A lot will hinge on Anthony Gonzalez -- he's entering the critical 3rd year for a WR so we'll see. I still like Brady's trio of Moss, Welker & Galloway over Manning's trio of Wayne, Gonzo and...Austin Collie? I guess Clark is the 3rd WR there...
