Rooike Draft Decision. What is your take?

Postby kevarcen » Wed May 27, 2009 1:57 pm

I have the 1.5 pick in a Rookie /FA draft. Here are my options.
1. keep the pick and draft what is there McCoy, Greene or Brown

2. Take a trade: GIve 1.5 for D. Jackson and 1.10

3. Take a tradeL: Give 1.5 for E. Royal and 4.7

All this is contingent that Crabtree does not drop to 1.5

Dynasty Roster
Drew Brees, Trent Edwards

Marion Barber, Pierre Thomas, Jonathan Stewart, Felix Jones, Tashard Choice

Reggie Wayne, Greg Jennings, Steve Breaston, Donnie Avery, Devin Hester, Josh Morgan

Owen Daniels, Marcedes Lewis

Titans D/ST
Nick Folk

Pass TD - 4pts
Int - -1pt
25yrds - 1pt

Rush/ Rec TD - 6pts
Rush/Rec 10yrds - 1pt

I would keep the pick and take the best available RB (Brown, Greene, McCoy) -- your squad needs another viable RB more than a WR.

If it was PPR, I would be all over that Eddie Royal trade. But without PPR, I don't think he will produce the TDs to make it worth your while. Even Wes Welker doesn't produce that many TDs, and that is the upside you're looking at (and Orton/Simms <<< Brady/Cassel).

DeSean kind of lacks stud WR upside given how the Eagles spread it around - a quality WR but not appreciably better than the depth you have behind Wayne and Jennings. I don't think he helps you much - just as easy to gamble on Breaston/Hester/Avery getting a TD that game.

I would be all over Greene with that pick. It's much more of a gamble than Royal, but if it pays off it helps your team a lot more.

Take the RB, you have nice WR depth with young potential guys also, I really like Royal but like Thrifty said it would have to be ppr, the Desean deal isn't bad if you like one of the other late RB's, but I'd probably grab a RB there and increase your RB depth.

Yeah that changes things. :-)

I would advocate trading out of the spot for Jackson and the 1.10. At least Jackson has shown us something, where the 1.5 spot has some question marks to it, regardless if you take RB or WR.

If Crabtree somehow falls take him.

If not I would trade the 1.5 for Jackson and the 1.10. At the 1.10 you can still get decent quality for a WR.

I really like Royal but I think you get better value out of the first deal, IMHO -- the 1.10 is the difference maker.

I would keep the pick and grab another RB unless Crabtree falls that far. Maclin might be the other WR I would take but WRs can take 2 or more years to really be productive. I would be hard pressed to not take another RB if Crabtree is taken before then.

Even with Wells I would take the RB. What if last year you took Mendenhall and then traded away a pick that could have landed Forte?

Thanks for all the help. I took Crabtree. I did not think he was going to fall to 1.5.
