Chris “Beanie” Wells, RB, Arizona
2008 Stats: 207 carries, 1,197 rushing yards, 8 touchdowns
The Facts: Wells was dominant in his second year at the Ohio State University, rushing for 1,609 yards and scoring 15 touchdowns in his first season as a starter in 2007. He was named first-team All-Big Ten and All-American for his efforts. In 2008, Wells rushed for 1,197 yards in just 10 games and was named second team All-Big Ten. He rushed for more than 100 yards in eight of those 10 games.
Analysis: Wells has landed in a perfect situation in Arizona. If you read the Rookie RB Review Part 2, you know that second-year Cardinal running back Tim Hightower averaged a dismal 2.8 yards per carry and recorded just one 100-yard game against the lowly Rams defense in 2008, so Wells should have no problem claiming the starting gig in the Desert.
