I don't like Thomas Jones' chances to repeat his 2008 numbers.
Regardless of what people say about Brett Favre, he had a lot to do with Jones' success. He went from 2 TD's in '07 to 15 TD's in '08. A lot of that had to do with Favre getting the Jets into the red zone, and teams defending the pass instead of the run with Favre at the helm.
With Mark Sanchez or Kellen Clemens at QB, and WR Laveranues Coles leaving, I'm not convinced defenses will show that respect again -- so T. Jones can expect to see many 8-man fronts this year.
The Jets traded up to draft RB Shonn Greene, so that tells you they like him. It's a new coaching staff, so Rex Ryan is gonna show his new draft picks the love. Ryan has no loyalty to Jones, who at 31 is almost out the door.
I think with Greene and Leon Washington eating into his carries and the Jets taking a step back in the passing game, Thomas Jones is in the 22-28 range in terms of my Fantasy RB's.
In fact, I might draft Felix Jones or Julius Jones ahead of Thomas Jones in seasonal leagues for '09.

I see T. Jones getting about 20 carries a game and NYJ using a ball control offense this season. While they do have Washington and Greene to steal carries you have to think where Ryans coaching background is. He will use his defense and trying to win the low scoring games with the running game. I see Jones getting about 1200 yards and 8tds this year, a quality low end # 2 rb for fantasy. In a redraft league he should be the 15th -20th drafted rb, as far as dynasty / keeper leagues I would hope that he starts off strong and trade him to a contender. Good luck.
Hank's got it about where I have him this year...the Jets RB situation is probably one I'm going to largely avoid in the early rounds and maybe take some late fliers on guys because it's really up in the air on how they'll use the combination of Jones, Washington, and now Greene int hat backfield. I would have liked him a good deal this year if they hadn't taken Greene but with things as they are now, he's now looking more like a guy you can consider as a flex player and probably nothing more at this point.

Thanks for the advice. Its a shame this guy comes off his best season and arguably the best Jets rushing season on top off adding on 10 lbs and in the best shape of his life and manages to lose all his value. I agree with you Hank i just wish i was mistaken haha
I also agree with the above - TJ is overrated this year, and will be selected by someone well before I would consider him. Everything fell into place for Jones last year - Favre kept the D honest, they had a softer schedule than they do this year, and TJ ended up ranked #7 for most touches per game among all RB's in the league.
No way does that happen again - the carries will be split more this year, there won't be as many touches for RB's as a whole in a more difficult schedule, and until a QB proves himself, they'll be facing 8-man fronts and making less of the carries that they do get. Just avoid this guy.
