Would this change your draft philosophy

Postby kingmike74 » Tue Jun 02, 2009 8:55 am

I just noticed in my 1 PPR league that our start roster looks like this.

1 QB
1-3 RB
1-3 WR
1 TE
1 K
1 DST

This means I can start 3 RB's while starting only 1 WR.

Would this make you be more heavy on RB's, even though it is a PPR league?

Also, QB's do not get penalized for INT's, so this will surely change my QB philosphy.

I don't know that it would change my draft philosophy too drastically.

Obviously you need to get your share of RBs early, especially since you can start 3. Being a PPR league, it certainly pays to have an elite WR as well.

Since you are not penalized for INTs, I would wait to draft a QB and stock up on RBs and WRs. The QBs that I have ranked in the 12-16 range can certainly be a viable starter for a squad with your league's scoring system... if you draft a couple of QBs in that range and decide whom to start based on matchups, you will be just fine.

It's worth doing if you can grab a few of the better pass catching RBs to throw into your lineup as they'll have better value there than even some of the WRs because of the consistency. I think it will just depend on what comes to you but if RBs fall in your lap...it's not crazy for you to keep taking them early on depending on who is there for you.

I have played in a couple no TO penalty leagues for a while, and there still is a difference in the QB tiers. Certainly it raises the value of some (Romo, Palmer) and lowers the value of others (Garrard, Pennington). QBs on bad teams playing from behind get a bump as well. But I don't think it means you should wait longer on QB. At least assuming you are already waiting a little bit.

I think the multiple RB/WR flex spots should just make you go BPA as much as possible. I think you can win with 1 RB and 3 WR and I think you can win with 3 RB and 1 WR. If anything you can get away with less depth at RB since you can start so many WRs. I play in a RB+2WR+FLEX keeper league and if you have stud WR and at least one RB, you can win.

Yup. Thanks guys for the feedback.

It will all just depend on who falls to me, at what draft position.
