Crunched the #'s and I am flabbergasted!

So I am in a PPR seasonal league this year and just got done compiling my rank list based on projected fantasy points scored this season.

I have done this for 2 straight years and they are very accurate, but this is the first year I have done thisfor a PPR league that does not count INT's for QB's.

Scoring

QB
25 yards = 1 point
Passing TD = 4 points
INT = 0

RB
10 rushing yards = 1 point
Rushing TD = 6 points
Reception = 1 point
Fumble = 0

WR
10 yards recieving = 1 point
Recieving TD = 6 points
Reception = 1 point
Fumble = 0


So here are my rankings based on 7 renowned ranking web sites, 2 of which cost $. Let me know your thoughts.

Let me what you think becasue I was blown away when I was done. Again, I have done this for 2 years in NON PPR leagues and INT's are -2 points and they are very, very accurate for the vets.

Kudos for the effort in compiling the data. However, I think it's more valuable to consider from a positional perspective rather than just pure 'projected points scored'.

Solid start, just needs to be developed to the next stage.

I saw nothing too shocking, QBs commonly are the top scorers of all positions...and its usually not just one of them...

it shocked me becasue I wouldnever consider grabbing a QB before round 4 unlessa top gun slipped. After looking at the numbers, I am rethinking everything.

Did you compile these based off of projected '09 stats or actual '08 stats?

Thats part of the reason RBs are taken so early...only 8 in the top 25 (projected).

There are 9 QBs...you may think wow...thats not that much different...but leagues typically start double or more RBs than they do QBs.

By your projections you can wait and take the 9th QB off the board and still get a top 25 player locking down your one QB spot.

Exactly. You can take a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round or you can take one in the 6-8 rounds and get one that will likely score within 5 points per game of the absolute best fantasy QB. Last season in leagues that had 25 yds/pt and 6 pts/TD, the #12 QB only averaged 6 points per game less than the #1 QB.

Most standard leagues now will start 2 RBs and 1 RB/WR flex spot which means you can start up to 3 RBs...plus you'll need backups. Do the math on that in comparison to needing 1 QB and 1 backup which means 24 QBs when there are 32 in the league.

If you're ranking just by projected total with no regard to position, QBs will always be the highest scorers. I don't see how these numbers would make you want to take a QB any earlier...

I agree. I think you need to develop this into positions and you got something. Interesting list though.

As MattB47 mentioned even though Brees is ranked #2 he can still be had in the 2nd round because there are plenty to go around. That can't be said with RB's and WR's.

The question is whether its worth the extra 6 points for the amount you will lose by not grabbing a WR and instead grabbing the #12 QB.
