PPR Keeper

Postby JabbaBen » Sat Jun 06, 2009 1:36 am

Scoring is PPR, 10 yards for a point, 8 for TDs.

We get two keepers, each costs you a pick in the first two rounds. I'll have the last pick once drafting commences. Who to keep: MJD, Turner, Andre Johnson.
I hate keeping two RBs, and in PPR Turner is not quite as studly. Anyway I keep AJ over him?

Turner - 6 receptions, 1740 yards, 17 TD's

AJ - 115 receptions, 1575 yards, 8 TD's

Turner won't match last year's numbers. (376 carries will do that to you)

While AJ is unlikely to reach 115 receptions again, his TD total could increase.

It's close because of 8 points per TD, but I'd keep AJ over Turner in this format.

You have what pretty much everyone considers to be 2 of the top 5 RBs overall...there is NO WAY you don't keep them. It's also a very TD heavy league (I can't possibly understand the rationale for 8 pts/TD) and both MJD and Turner have very high TD potential. AJ is a good WR but he hasn't stayed the healthiest over the years and his value is nowhere near the level of your other two RBs.

Also...curious as to why you hate keeping 2 RBs? As a general rule in keeper leagues...RBs are by far the most valuable, especially 2 top 5 guys like what you have...I would hate much more to NOT keep 2 RBs.

I agree with the first guy. I would keep MJD and AJ. I think the sky is the limit for them and look for Turner to crash as Matt Ryan grows.

I'd keep Turner and MJD. Turners yards should drop this year but the overall improvement in the Falcons offense could give him more TD chances.

There is really nothing to think about, you have 2 top 4 Rb's. You keep the stud RB's. It is very rare to find RB's who are not in a RBBC and get goal line carries. You are nuts if you keep any WR over MJD or Turner.

We start 2 RB and 3 WR. I hate keep two RBs because there is no potential for someone to fall to you. At the turn 2 WRs is a must. The 8pts for a TD is partially to balance the PPR. We generally have a healthy mix of WRs/RBs/QBs in the top 25. I just feel that someone like Bush may be available with my first pick, and could perform comparable to Turner.

First off, I really just don't see how Bush would perform better than Turner this year. IF Bush can stay helathy, and that's a GIGANTIC IF, then he's still going to have to get 1400ish yards and score double-digit TDs. With the TD thing the way it is and the fact that you start 2 RBs, why give up two sure things (or as sure as you can get in fantasy football :-D )

MJD and Turner are for sure top 5 RBs in almost every ranking I've seen thus far. While AJ is my #1b WR right with Randy Moss this year, he's still not getting picked until late 1st-mid 2nd rounds... while Turner and MJD are off the boards within 3 picks most times.

Think about this... if you were to not "keep" one of them two who do you think will be the first overall pick in the next redraft? Yep, probably Turner.

Bush's receptions make him valuable. All the "top 5" rankings are in non-PPR leagues, so relying on them is not valid. They can give some insight, but Turner is one of those backs that falls off in PPR formats. He had very few receptions last year.
