Westbrook...Worth being a Keeper?

Postby jizzario » Wed Jun 10, 2009 1:20 pm

I do have plenty of time to make a choice, but as of right now, is Westy too much of a risk in a keeper league? I am in a three player keeper dynasty league and have decided to keep LT, Calvin Johnson and Westy...I also have K. Smith(DET) whom I could opt on saving instead of Westy. I will most likely wait until the last possible moment, but I would appreciate any opinions on this matter.

Starter must include (11): QB, RB(2), WR(3), TE, K, DEF, ROOKIE(any pos.) , Flex(any pos.)

I'd keep him, he's no worse than a 3rd round pick and even when he's been hurt, he's productive. Plus he's a great receiver in a pass happy offense.

In your case, I would keep Westy. If Westy if healthy, he can win you a championship. But, that is a big if. I would wait until the last possible second to decide, because I want to see how Westy recovers from his surgery. If you can, I would look to package Westy in a trade.

Like Tru said packaging him and/or Smith in a trade for a legit (not quite as injury prone) pass-catching RB would be ideal... but in you situation I like Westy in the next 2-3 years to produce well enough to overcome whatever ceiling Smith may have. So much will happy between now and then but if no one bites on Smith and/or Westy for a younger, pass-catching RB then go with ole Westy.
