I am going to petition our leauge's commisioner to change our scoring of TDs for QBs from 6pts per TD to 4 pts per TD. But before I did that I wanted to get y'all opinion. Why? Because I may keep my mouth shut and draft a top QB in the first two rounds.
There is absolutely no question in my mind that if you are in a league that gives 6pts for passing TDs you draft a top 5 QB in the 2nd or 3rd round. Why? A top QB and 2 decent RBs will ALWAYS beat a decent QB and 2 elite RBs and it's not even close.
For instance, let's say these two players do as projected: Brees - 5,000 yards, 34 TDs, 21 turnovers - 354 points, 22 points each week Schaubs - 3600 yards, 22 TDs 16 turnovers - 243 points, 15 points each week
The problem? Matt Schaub is 11th on the top scorers list. In fact, the TOP ELEVEN SCORERS are projected to be QBs. Adrian Peterson is 12. But wait- it gets worse. TWENTY TWO OF THE TOP TWENTY FIVE PROJECTED SCORERS ARE QBs! I think that is just way too much weight to the QB position. Jason Campbell is not a better player to have on your team than Michael Turner.
Revise it to the normal 4 points, though, and it's a different story. Most QBs lose about 45 points on their top score. All of a sudden the top 25 has 13 QBs and 12 RB/WRs. And Jason Campbell isn't on the list.
So, if you're me. Do you draft a QB early and shut up or do you make a proposal to the commish?
I say shut up and Draft a top 3 Qb in round 2 Like Brees,Manning,Brady, I've been in a 6pt/Td league for 6 years now and at last 5 Qb's always finish in the top 10 every year........
Want to know what the problem with your reasoning is? The fact that the top 11 scorers are QBs and that 22 of the 25 scorers are QBs. The fact that QBs will collectively put up a lot of points means that ALL QBs will collectively put up a lot of points...which means their value with respect to other positions doesn't change whether the scoring system is 6 pts/TD or 4 pts/TD.
For example, last season you take a QB in round 2 even, say Drew Brees who finished #1 (although Brady did tend to go first), and I take someone much later, say Philip Rivers who I took in nearly every draft last year in rounds 7-9. At 6 pts/TD, Brees had 370.7 points and averaged 23.2 points per game. Rivers? He had 342.6 points and averaged 21.4 points per game. Let's even say you failed to get a good QB and had to pick up Shaun Hill or Tyler Thigpen, well those two guys averaged 18.4 and 17.2 points per game last season which just puts them 4.8 and 6 points less than Brees.
So can you imagine the advantage of instead of grabbing a QB in round 2 that will likely be just 3-4 points per game max from the 10th best QB, grabbing a top WR or stud RB to pair with your first round pick? You will then lose very little at QB and have a big advantage at the other positions.
The fact that a scoring system "favors" QBs never increases their value unless it's something that really separates QBs from each other like points per completion or something or if the league starts 2 QBs which changes the scarcity of the position. If a scoring system favors QBs, it favors ALL QBs...I've always played in 6 pts/TD passing leagues and have always found competitive QBs in the mid rounds to compete with the top guys.

Great Answer i Agree 100%, damn you made me change my mind.............But i still think if he can get a brees or manning that scores 400- 350 point is an big advantage over a Schaub or Romo or Garrad that will give you 200- 250 points like it did in my league last year........... But u made a great point..............
I have never drafted a Qb in the first 4 rounds and I have won plenty of fantasy leagues. I have been stressing this for awhile now, there is no reason to take Brady, Peyton or Brees in the first 2 rounds. You will be able to get a QB in rounds 4-6 that will throw for over 3,000 yards and close to 30 TD's. These Qb's are (Romo, Rodgers, Rivers, McNabb). It is alot harder to find stud Wr's and Rb's in rounds 4-6.

Maybe, but I don't think Rivers will be around in the 4th in my leauge, simply because his projections are higher. Cutler may be a more realistic 4th/5th round QB.
For instance, let's say my 10th position RB QB RB WR draft goes: Gore - 204 pts Brees - 354 pts P.Thomas - 171 pts A. Bryant - 144 pts TOTAL: 873
And a 10th position RB RB WR QB draft goes: Gore - 204 Portis - 197 pts Cutler - 312 pts A. Bryant - 144 pts TOTAL: 857
These numbers are projections but the point remains that you can't make up that statistical difference that a top 3 QB provides.
If you take the same draft and this time, instead of 6 pts for a passing TD you give them 4 pts, here are the results.
10th position RB QB RB WR draft goes: Gore - 204 pts Brees - 286 pts P.Thomas - 171 pts A. Bryant - 144 pts TOTAL: 805
And a 10th position RB RB WR QB draft goes: Gore - 204 Portis - 197 pts Cutler - 262 pts A. Bryant - 144 pts TOTAL: 807
In a 6pt per passing TD leauge, QBs are over-weighted. But, the teams actually flip when it goes down to 4pts!!!
