Need some mid/late round draft help

Postby kingmike74 » Fri Jun 12, 2009 9:22 am

Had a post going and it got long so I started a new one.

12 man redraft
1 PPR
basic scoring but no deductions for QB INT's

QB 1
RB 1-3
WR 1-3
TE 1
K 1
DST 1
8 Reserves

So far here is my draft...

1-MJD
2-Reggie Wayne
3-Anquan Boldin
4-Darren McFadden
5-Mcnabb
6-DeSean Jackson

I am 2 picks away and here is what is left. I really want another back but I also want a TE, Id not want to get stuck with a sub par TE in a PPR.

Eddie Royal
Santonio Holmes
Jay Cutler
Matt Ryan
Antonio Bryant
Donnie Avery
Chris Cooley
Jerricho Cotchery
Greg Olsen
Cedric Benson
Ray Rice
Darren Sproles
Willis McGahee
Leon Washington

Value here is at WR and QB......

Your ok at both........

RB is bar far the weakest left.......your paying for the 2nd and 3rd round WR.....

For the guys left BPA I would rank....

Ryan
Holmes
Bryant
Cothery
Royal
Benson
Olsen

If I were you I think I take Ryan.....Lock up the QB position......check bye weeks though...I haven't gotten that far yet....got a couple months before my first draft....If you really want a RB Benson is the only one worthy at this point........I alos do think Olsen is in for a big year with Cutler.....but may be early for a TE......

With your flex positions (i.e. start 1-3 RBs, start 1-3 WRs) I think you still look at best player available.

To me, I would be looking at either Royal or Benson.

Eddie Royal was a huge PPR surprise last year, and should still get a lot of the underneath stuff thrown to him, regardless of QB. I think of him as a "poor man's" Welker. I think in a PPR he is the best option available to you.

I am torn, though, as I would be nervous as having DMac as my RB2 and no one behind him. In Benson, you have a starting RB with little pressure from a backup.

As for TE -- you still have Olsen and Cooley on the board. How many picks until your next pick? I would advise holding off if you can until next round to consider a TE. FWIW I have Cooley ranked slightly higher than Olsen.

Mcnabb's BYE is wek 4, so is Ryan's. Cutler plays Detroit week 4, yummy.

There was TE run a round ago and 8 are already off the board. I fear that is I do not get Cooley or Olsen, I am stuck with a sub par guy.

But I do have Keller and Carlson pegged for about 60-65 grabs with around 650 yards this year. but by my rankings, the drop off from Cooley and these 2 are HUGE. Like comparing a first tier WR, and a third.

You are right about RB but sine it is a PPR and I have the option of starting 3 WR with only 1 RB weekly and I own Wayne, Boldin and Jackson, should I worry about another RB?

I think I'd take a gamble and grab Rice. If he stays as the RB1 in Balt he could be set for a big PPR RB year.

If you're adverse to this big an upside risk, then go with Benson but take a last look at the rookie RB cincy drafted.

You also might take a TE. In a redraft, I'd probably go with Cooley but only barely over Olsen as I think Cutler should increase his looks and Desmond Howard will play less and less now that the Bears have a real QB.
