Is it time to try and move Moss ???

Postby GiantsFanNJ » Fri Jun 12, 2009 11:03 am

PPR dynasty 16 teams IDP
I won the league last year with both best record and super bowl win going 14-1 overall.I have last pick 16 in draft.
Start 1 to 3 WR and 1 to 3 RB
My basic roster.
Hass, Campbell, Russell
R.Brown,K.Smith,Ward,Lewis,G.Jones,R.Williams, Torain,Moore,Pittman
Moss, Marshall,Bryant,Moore,Engram,Manningham,J.Jones(hou)
Fasano,Lee
I am thinking of offering
Ward and Moss or Smith and Moss for C.Johnson(ten) and Colston( i do have Moore for WR handcuff).
Thanks for any input or suggestions

I would do Ward/Moss for Chris Johnson and Colston. I am really high on Chris Johnson and I like the fact that you are also getting a stud WR back.

I agree. Ward is still iffy, while CJ is going to be the man in a run-heavy offense for the forseeable future, plus Randy maybe has 1-2 more stud years in him barring injury while Colsten just turned 26 and is in the most pass-happy offense in the NFL for the forseeable future as well.

Well if you look at a few things I think that this is going to be a good move for you. CJ is going to be in a run first type of offense and should continue to put up good numbers. Colston is the wild card of the two, (I also have him in a dynasty league) and this all comes down to him staying healthy for the season. I know that he has put up big numbers in his first few years, but his off season micro fracture surgery scares me a bit, but from what I have read he is doing well and should be 100%. Moss I think will put up big numbers again, but he is getting up there in age, that is his only downfall. Ward is sort of the unknown person here. He is a little older, has never been the main man and will most likely split carries in TB. So to me it is a downgrade a wr but a big upgrade at rb, I'd go for it.

Something you should know about moss is he is a freak athlete. All NFL players are, but Moss is the freak. You never know how these guys will age. TO is what 35, 36 and still a stud. No matter how old he gets Moss is still 6'4". He may lose some speed, so then what will he run 4.5? With his size and hands hes still a stud. I'd put money on stud numbers for at least 4 more years if he stays in New England. And there are question marks surrounding Colston as somebody said earlier. If you want to win now and the near future I'd say keep Moss.

This trade is a tough one to call. Chris Johnson is definitely a stud to own for dynasties, and while Colston may have question marks following him this season, you have Moore to mitigate any disasters there. On the other hand, if Brady comes all the way back and lights up Moss again, you'll kick yourself for letting him go (at least for the immediate season). If you're keeping one eye on your future, though, it may be worth this risk. IF you have a partner willing to accept Ward & Moss for CJ & Colston, I'd say overall it's worth doing.
