A funny thing happened today

Postby moochman » Sat Jun 27, 2009 9:47 pm

I braved the heat for a spirited 18 holes of golf today. The golf was forgettable, betrayed by a faulty putter. Driver error, I suspect. The conversation was enjoyable, ranging from various things we all loved. From the delicious beer which was timely, frosty, and plentiful; to girls-wives, girlfriends, and fantasies, covering redheads, blondes, and dark haired temptresses; to golf-my sucky putting, Dave's amazing chip-ip on the 16 ($10 a piece), to Gerry's one in the trap, three out misfortune in the 18th green-side bunker that lost him the match. Strewn around during the events of the day was much talk of the Lions. I, oddly enough, was much more pessimistic than the rest of the foursome. It was then I noticed a funny thing happened.
I realized how much I was looking forward to the first exhibition game.

What's a matter with me? I know that the starters will only see a few series at best and that most of the players who play most of the game will be gone by ex-week three. Worse yet, I know full well that nothing we do during the exhibition season will carry any weight heading into the real season. Last year's exhibition title and undefeated record proved that out. Yet, I can hardly wait.
I wanna see:
Louis Delmas hit someone real hard. I mean really hard.
Derreck Williams juke somebody out of their jock. I mean twist their ankle kind of move on a return.
Sta-FORD throw passes with zip like we haven't seen round here...since Farve was a Packer.
Magatron, just to see the franchise in a uni.
Pettigrew haul in a 30 yard rope from Sta-FORD and pancake someone.
K Smith read a block and hit the hole hard.
Aaron Brown explode through a hole.
Sammie Hill vs NFL type players.
Demir Boldin remind me who his brother is.
And I want to see a well coached team.

Sorry guys, out in the heat, lots of beer, and really missing football. Forgive my blathering. Go Lions!

I've really been looking forward to the start also O:-) :-B

I may actually go to a pre-season game again this year...who knows, I could see a win (at least I was one of the few that saw a win in Ford Field last year ;-7 )
