WHAT'S NEW
The Cardinals' biggest move this offseason is one they didn't make -- at least, not yet.
Despite constant griping about his contract situation, Anquan Boldin is still a Cardinal. And, thus, the core of last year's NFC championship team is still intact -- and hungry for more.
Boldin joins Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston to form the most potent receiving corps in football. With all five starters back on the offensive line, the ageless Kurt Warner as a trigger-man and the youthful combo of Tim Hightower and Chris "Beanie" Wells in the backfield, the Cardinals could be poised for even bigger things offensively in '09. Losing offensive coordinator Todd Haley could hurt, but Arizona's on-the-field talent is more than enough to compensate for his loss.
On the other side of the ball, DE Travis LaBoy, CB Roderick Hood, CB Eric Green and defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast are gone, but most key members of last year's bend-but-(usually)-don't-break unit are back. Karlos Dansby and Bertrand Berry will be playing for new contracts, and promising CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie should be better in his second season.
Ultimately, the Cardinals look poised for another playoff run. They'll have to stay healthy, of course, and Boldin's contract demands could become a distraction. But as long as he's on the team, the offense should keep firing on all cylinders. And that's a scary thought for NFC defenses -- and fantasy owners who aren't fortunate enough to draft any Arizona players.
