Looking for advice on draft strategy in unique league.

Postby ELHS » Wed Jul 01, 2009 8:07 am

I am playing in a 12 team head-to-head league. Roster positions are as follows:

QB, WR, WR, RB, RB, W/R/T, Q/W/R/T, K, DEF, D, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, IR.

Scoring for offense is as follows: Passing yards 25 yards per point; 3 points at 325 yards;
6 points at 375 yards; 8 points at 400 yards. Passing TDs: 4

Rushing yards 10 yards per point; 3 points at 120 yards; 6 points at 180 yards; 8 points at 200 yards. Rushing TDs: 6

Reception yards 10 yards per point; 3 points at 120 yards; 6 points at 180 yards; 8 points at 200 yards. Rec 1 point. Rec TDs: 6

My question is when it comes to draft strategy how should I approach the two flex positions? Should I target 2 WRs in the flex or two RBs or should I even think of starting two QBs? Any advice given would be appreciated. My draft is over a month away. So I have time to strategize
I have just discovered the Fantasy Cafe and there appears to be some excellent information on this site.

I think in this PPR league you're best to get the top WR at flex. However, if there is a RB like Bush around you may want to grab him. He'll get points for receptions and running. Please take a look at my recent post too. For a real twist a top QB may snag you the most....

Check out my question please

Thanks!

I don't think you would want two QBs because they are awarded less points than the other two positions. That being said in a 12 team league I think you go for the best available scorer whether it be RB or WR. RB would probably be preferable, but if there was an above average WR don't be afraid to go there.

I think you need to look at a second QB.

What is a good day for a RB or QB:

QB - 325 yds, 2 TD = 24points

RB - 110 yds, 1 TD = 17 points

So, even if the QB has less than 325, he still scores more, even at 300/1TD he still scores more. You would need your RB to get over 120 or score a 2nd TD. I think it is more consistant for a QB to achieve those numbers than a #2 or #3 RB.

As for WR, that may be the other option for the 2nd flex, but you need to find a guy that gets a lot of receptions to make it worthwhile

Appreciate the advice everyone has given me! dream_017, I am defiantly going to keep the thought of starting two QBs in mind. With the type of scoring system the league employs…it does seem like a QB in one of those flex positions along with a WR that is highly targeted in the other flex is a good strategy.
