Andre / Witten too much for Deangelo? WHIR **UPDATE**

Postby hammertoes » Sat Jul 11, 2009 7:58 am

I was offered a trade...

His Deangelo Williams (16th round keeper)

FOR

My Andre Johnson (2nd round keeper) and Jason Witten (13th round keeper)

I know Deangelo is projected to be a top 5 RB and everything, but I can't help feeling like I'm giving up too much.

Talk me into it or talk me out of it.

Not enough info.

What's your team?

Starting positions?

PPR?

10 team keeper, standard scoring, no ppr, 6pts for all TD's
can keep 2 players from rounds 1-5, and 2 more from rounds 6-16
QB / 2RB / 3WR / RB-WR / TE / K / DST / 6BN

my current keepers:
AJ (2)
Portis (4)
MB3 (8)
Romo (10)

other notables on my team:
B. Marshall (5)
Witten (13)
Warner (16)
L. Johnson (16)

If I made the trade I'd probably keep Portis (4), Barber (8), and DWill (16). Try to trade some package of Romo, Warner, LJ, and Marshall for a good value keeper in round 1-5.

You're giving up too much. I don't think DeAngelo will get near the numbers he had last year.

I should also add that Witten could end up being their top receiver now that TO is gone.

Even though I was probably going to lose Witten anyway?

Are you better with:
AJ, Portis, Romo, MB3

or

Portis, ? , DeAngelo, Barber?

Unless you can get a Moss or Fitzgerald, I would NOT give up the best PPG WR in the league(when healthy), and that offense will probably be better, AJ is a machine and he and Fitz are in their iwn class now at WR.

I don't like the deal personally.............
Thanks for the help on mine!!!

I wouldn't do the deal unless you can work out something which doesn't involve AJ. In PPR he is your best current keeper.

OK, I think I am going to offer a trade.

AJ (2) and Witten (13)
FOR
Deangelo (16) and <insert pick swap here>

I wasn't going to keep Witten anyway and I figure I'm better off with Deangelo and my 2nd round pick than with AJ and my 16th round pick.

What do you think would be an appropriate pick swap?
I draft 8th out of 10, he drafts 5th. (snake draft)

Keep in mind that the following picks cannot be involved due to pending keepers: My 4th and 8th, his 2nd and 4th.

Am I asking too much if I go with my 7th for his 5th?
Or should I ask for one of his picks staight up?

very interesting stuff.

while its hard to consider dumping AJ even in a non ppr league, dwill for a 16th rounder is incredible value.

on the flip side, the panthers have a much tougher schedule this year, stewart is always lurking, and i think what we saw from deangelo last year is above his ceiling.

right now, you could keep AJ, MB3, Portis, and LJ. id rather have LJ for a 16th than romo for a 10th. warner in the 16th is a possibility too.

if you make this deal, youre looking at MB3, Portis, Dwill, and romo/warner, along with some mid-round pick, and your 2nd round selection back. your midround pick is going to get you an RB who you probably won't start very often, given your team of portis/dwill/mb3, and the 2nd rounder is unlikely to get you a WR anywhere near AJ's talent, given that this is a 4-keeper league.

personally, i think AJ will outproduce any WR that you find in the 2nd round more than dwill outproduce MB3, Portis, or LJ. as crazy as it sounds, i would stand pat here. AJ is an elite talent, possibly the best at his position. Dwill is a gamble on a team with a timeshare and a tough schedule.
