DWill 09' season

Postby dblj9911 » Mon Jul 20, 2009 1:03 pm

I'm in a 10 team dynasty league and have had D. Williams on my team since his rookie season and just kept waiting for him to come back down to earth last season, but he never did. I know that they are a running team, have a top o-line and he will get his touches again this year. I also know that he set or tied a NFL record of td runs of 20+ yards (think he had 6 or 7 of them). They also have a healthy J.Stew for the entire year this year who will cut into his carries. So what should I do with him? Do I sell high and get great value for him or ride him and A. Peterson? Do I package him and Eli for Brady and a 1st rd draft pick? What do you think he will do this year? Most mock drafts have him going top 10.
Standard scoring league, 0.5ppr league.

QB- Palmer, Eli, Orton, Hill
WR- Fitz, Calvin, Colston, Sydney Rice, Hixon
RB- Peterson, DWill, R. Brown, R. Bush, LJ, M.Bush, C.Taylor

Me personally, I'd try to sell high on him. Find someone that is really high on him and take them for all you can get.

He'll still be a #1 RB this year, but he's definately going to come back down to earth. Between JStew and their tough schedule, I say trade him if you can.

I think sell high. He looked great last year, but Stewart did also. If you were able to upgrade from Eli to Brady and get a high draft pick out of it, I think that'd be a great solution.

DWill has been underrated his entire career. He was the Panthers' best RB for 2 seasons before finally getting a chance to start and he dominated the NFL. He was THE best RB in the league.

Don't listen to all this Jonathan Stewart talk. He is talented, but he has ALWAYS been hurt going back to his college days. If JStew has had this many leg and foot problems as a young man, what kind of health do you think he'll have in the future?

Spider is right. Dwill came into the season with a different attitude. The ability has always been there, the explosiveness and speed. I saw every Panthers game last year, and he played like an man possessed. Fox is loyal to a falt to the veterans (see Foster and Delhomme). Running behind a great offensive line, with J-stew spelling him and Steve Smith to stretch the defense look for another great season. Keep him.

If you can get another top tier RB that is int he same class as where Williams is being taken I'd make a trade. It's only a matter of time before Stewart is going to start eating more into his touches and I've heard some reports that Stewart looks fantastic right now and it could even happen more this season where the split comes closer to a 50/50 split with these two having equal time on the field. I think he'll have another good season but not like the one he had last year.

Is this the same Stewart that everyone agreed would outplay DWill and become the starter for the Panthers last season?

Tanks for the response on my Bowe/Marshall question. I'd be happy to help here.

You are lucky. I'm also in a 10 team dynasty league and had DeAngelo since his rookie season. Only last year I decided not to keep him on the advice of my friend and fellow league owner who convinced me that Jonathan Stewart would be the man there. So instead I traded my 2nd round pick for Maroney(ugh!), kept him and drafted Jacobs in the first round. My other keeper was Lynch. Needless to say I was kicking myself all year, I probably would have finished 1st or 2nd with Williams.

If I were you I'd see what the market is like for Williams. He peaked last season. I think you could use a top tier QB, I'm not convinced Palmer can be of great help to you. I'd totally be targetting Brady because he can be had relatively cheap. Just don't accept a deal where you aren't getting an elite player back, his value commands it. Elite QB's: Brees, Rivers, Brady, Rodgers, Romo maybe Ryan.

Good luck.
