Just banged out a 12 team Mock, 18 rounds. no ppr, with flex. Thoughts?
QB: Drew Brees, Jay Cutler, Brett Favre RB: Chris Johnson, Ronnie Brown, Reggie Bush, Jamal Lewis, Ray Rice, Jerome Harrison, Maroney WR: Roy Williams, A Gonzalez, Tedd Ginn Jr, C Chambers, Davone Bess TE: Kellen Winslow D: BEARS K: Akers
I don't think you need Cutler if you are drafting Brees. I think Favre is ok for a guy who will give you decent production the week Brees is on your bench.
I don't care for Roy Williams as your WR1, I would be more comfortable having him as your WR2 and surprising as a WR1 than needing him to turn out a WR1 year. I would recommend taking a WR where you took Cutler, a guy like Moore or Moss I would like there.
Personally I am leary of CJ424 this year just because he has gotten rather arrogant and I am not sure what that will do for his work ethic. He will probably see more carries this year also but I don't think he has the build to be a feature back kinda guy. But I like his upside and overall your RBs aren't bad.

Good feeback, matt, thanks. I was drafting in the 7 spot (12 team) in this mock, and wanted to try a few things. One of them was to wait on WR and see what happened. I think there were only 3 robots in the draft, so it was a pretty good mock.
Pretty much what you observed is what happened, I ended up with Roy W as my WR1. not ideal. I agree with your comment. At the time I drafted Cutler, I wasn't overly impressed with the WR value, so I took a QB with potentially high trade value. I think Santana Moss was already gone by that point, although Lance Moore was still on the board. Mixed views on Moore this year, but I suppose pairing him with Brees would have been the smart play. I did not really expect Favre to be available later. Amazingly, Favre was a 15th round pickup!
I DO like CJ as a RB1 this year. I drafted him very late in my main $ league draft last year and was not disappointed, as he started for me much of the year. Yes, he's been running the mouth and certainly we'll all have to pay a much higher price for him this year, but I like him a lot as an RB1 and don't expect to see LenWhale vulture 14 TD's again this year, so I think CJ should have an even bigger year than last year.
No problem. I can understand the strategy with Cutler. If it was me and I was looking to make a pick just to trade later, I would target a high upside RB for the simple fact if you connect, your return will be much greater than if you land a nice QB. I liked the Favre pick, like it even more in the 15th.
I will assume you took Brees in the 2nd, Brown in the 3rd and RWilliams in the 4th? If thats the case, I would recommend taking the WR in the 3rd and a RB in the 4th. Theres just not a lot of guys in the 4th of a 12 teamer I would feel good about as my WR1. I would feel a lot better with a guy like Jennings or Bowe holding down your WR1 and take the downgrade at RB2. I like having that anchor in my WR corps before going after my second RB but thats my preference.

Actually, yes, Brees in the 2nd, Brown in the 3rd then Reggie Bush in the 4th. Was able to get Roy W in the 5th.
One of my experiments in this mock was to see just how bad the starting WR talent was if I took 3 RB's before getting a WR.
Yeah thats pretty ballsy. Last year I felt good about waiting a bit on WRs because there were guys like SSmith, Megatron and Jennings there in the 3rd, 4th and 5th round but this year I just don't see that kind of value.
