Thomas or Ryan

Postby cubbieball10 » Wed Jul 22, 2009 11:27 am

I have first re-draft pick in 10 team keeper league--we keep 6.. My tentative keeper's are Philip Rivers, Matt Forte, LT2, Roddy White, Marques Colston, and Roy Williams. We start 2 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 flex. Note, Forte, LT2 and Thomas all have a week 5 bye.

Would you draft Pierre Thomas to fill the flex position, or take Matt Ryan to start as my second QB?

I'd pick Pierre Thomas.

Decent starting QB's will be available with your next pick. Decent starting RB's will not.

What qb's are being kept? How is the qb scoring? In a 2 qb league I have seen it happen where alot of guys keep 2 and then there's not much to choose from

Id go Ryan in a 2 QB league. His long term value crushes Pierre Thomas' in a 2 QB Keeper League.

i also go with Ryan for a few reasons... 1. Ryan was a rookie last year and produces some great numbers that with experience will only continue to rise 2. Turner the Burner is still running wing man for him and giving him a great run option to open up the air 3. The addition of T-Gon is HUGE not only as a confidence booster for Ryan, but also one of if not the best check down option at the TE position 4. Pierre Thomas may be slated as RB1 right now, but remember Reggie is considered to be back healthy this year and will steal alot of touches from Thomas 5. Pierre has be labeled as somewhat fragile, so the Saints aren't going to give him the full work load that he should be able to handle, simple to keep him healthy and finally 6. because QBs usually are the #1 scorers, depending on your scoring a QB is worth more then most RB/WR anyways, and with a 2 QB set they become even more valuable, not to mention in alot of leagues they have gone to 2RB, 3WR and 2 flex positions, where as this league is only starting 2RB 2WR 1Flex, that means that there are less offensive players taken anyways...

i think you should go with the safer bet and take Ryan and combo him with Phillip, and look at it this way you have your 2 RB slots covered for all weeks aside from one, baring injury, and also you have your 2 WR slots covered with White and Colston, and Roy Williams fills your Flex spot, with the draft pick of Ryan you have ALL of your Offensive starters covered, and then can go and nab the best available Offesive Keys available and scoop a TE up 4-5 rounds in... good situation if you take Ryan with that Pick...

help me out...

with those 11 qbs off the board I think I'd keep Ryan as the drop off is significant
