DRAFT STRATEGY ADVICE

Postby Fantasy Dud » Thu Jul 23, 2009 8:53 am

I'm in a 12 team keeper league where we protect 2 players each year. QB points are 6pts-TD, 1pt-every 50yds, 5 pts-300yd bonus.

Positions are:
QB
RB
RB
WR
WR
Flex

Protected QBs are Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, and Warner.
Available QBs I'm considering are Rivers, Romo, Ryan

I've protected Sjax and Barber.

I have the 4th pick in a snake draft and the question I have is:
Would you draft one of those available QBs I listed above, with my 1st round pick, or hold off and take either 2 WRs or RB/WR in rounds 1 and 2 and just take a lower level QB such as Cutler, McNabb, Roethlisberger, Palmer later on in the draft?

Ignore my signature, that's last year's roster. Thanks!

WHIR!!!!!
QB - Brees, R Wilson
RB - Turner, Morris, Mendenhall, Powell, Best
WR - Ca.Johnson, Maclin, A Brown, T. Smith, Jeffery
TE - Bennett
K - Hartley
DEF - Arizona

I would take a top end receiver with the first pick and a QB with the second.

I would go after a QB then WR. My reason is that you have a flex position that should be filled with a QB on a weekly basis, since QBs tend to get A LOT more points than RB and WR. If you have 12 teams with that approach, that's 24 QBs being started (that doesn't include bench spots) each week.

Compared to the pool and depth of wide receivers, you'll be smart to take a top tier QB and a second tiered QB as your one two punch and pick up a strong WR and another undervalued WR for balance. I would go QB-WR-QB-WR (barring a drop from another position - value wise).
