Dynasty trade... Rivers, 1st rd pick.

Postby irish158 » Thu Jul 23, 2009 5:38 pm

I am wondering what the thought is of this trade.
My Rivers for his Palmer and 1.5 pick.
3 rd rookie draft.

My team
QB Rivers, Garcia
RB Westbrook, C Williams, E James
WR Edwards, S Moss, Chambers, B Johnson, McDonald, Burress
TE Scheffler, Watson
K Akers, Kaeding
D Balt, NYG

I took this team over after last season. It needs a lot of work and was trying to get another pick to get some younger talent. I know Rivers is highly ranked in dynasty formats, but I feel like I need to overhaul the whole team.
Thanks for any advice. WHIR!!

Where else are you picking in the draft?

I would do it. You really need some young players on your team. With the the 5th pick you are guaranteed: Moreneo, Wells, Crabtree, McCoy or Brown. You are downgrading at QB, but Palmer is still a top 10 QB.

I would look to move most of your roster and totally rebuild as soon as you can. If you just took it over then he must have known the team was on the downturn, so I would see what you can get for Westy, Chambers and Moss, or even look to trade them in the season. I would stockpile as many picks and young players as possible. Your team is going to be bad for the next year or so, but in two to three years you can turn your team around. Good luck.
