5th pick overall in 12-team keeper draft

Postby Hank_Scorpio » Fri Jul 24, 2009 1:06 am

I need a RB, and I have the 5th pick in my keeper league draft (12-teams, standard scoring). My keepers were Tom Brady, Steve Slaton, Larry Fitz, Calvin Johnson. We start 1 QB, 2RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 DST and 1 PK.

First 4 picks were Moreno, Wells, Donald Brown and Shonn Greene. The RB's I am trying to choose from are Marshawn Lynch, Reggie Bush, LeSean McCoy, LenDale White and Larry Johnson.

I choose 20th overall in the 2nd round, but unsure what RB's might be there, or I could go with a TE.

The trouble I have is if I pick Lynch, I will have to get Fred Jackson to cover the first 3 games, and I would wait until the fourth round (44th overall) to pick him. If I don't get Jackson, I am down a RB first 3 weeks due to Lynch's suspension. My other strategy might be to grab McCoy, since my division rival owns Westbrook and picks 10th overall and 15th overall, and will surely pick McCoy if he gets the chance...

Any suggestions?

Lynch - Suspended. Plummeting in drafts. Overrated?
Bush - Appears to have taken backseat to Pierre.
McCoy - Westbrook Jr, Westbrook Sr is old & often hurt
White - Only 24 yrs-old. Free-agent after this season.
Johnson - This ship has sailed

I'd pick McCoy since he is young and he has a chance to be the starter by midseason.

I'd also consider Ray Rice if he is available. He too is young & it's being reported that he is now the #1 back in Baltimore.

Im assuming you are banking on westy getting hurt by saying that?

And i suppose it depends on what you are wanting to do....play for the future or try and win your league.

Even with the 3 game suspension, i don't see how you could take McCoy over Lynch. Ya..you miss him for 3 games...but you could possibly never even start McCoy...

Between the guys you mentioned I would take Lynch. His suspension might just be a game or two. Even if it is three, you should be able to find a filler for those weeks. The other guys don't appeal to me too much. McCoy will be a descent spot starter assuming Westbrook gets nicked up but his stats will be very inconsistant.

Lynch. By far he's the best RB available there. He's still only 23!

If you're gun shy on Lynch then go with Bush. When he plays he produces, the key phrase being "when he plays". One of the best receiving RB's in the league, Brees doesn't hesitate to use him.

Yeah, I am leaning to Lynch because of his talent. I have had Bush the past three seasons and am disappointed in him (the injuries kill me every year). At least I know when Lynch will be out.

I am wondering if picking McCoy would be a good move at #5, to keep him from my divisional rival that has Westbrook. It might hurt my team, but I think Westy is done by 2010, and I don't want my rival to have McCoy and continue dominating my league (He has AP and MJD as well).
