Who to take 6th?

Postby JaysFan » Sat Jul 25, 2009 10:08 am

Tom,

I'm in a 12 team 2 QB PPR Redraft league (starting positions, excluding the 10 IDP are 2 QB, 2 RB, 4 WR, TE, 2 W/R/T). Because there are 12 teams each drafting 2 QB's, this draft scenario places QB's at a huge premium and makes the top 10 go off the board in the first 2 rounds.
. I have 6th overall pick and am debating how to go about my draft. I'm thinking the top 5 will go one of two ways:

a) Brady, Peterson, Brees, Manning, MJD
b) Brady, Peterson, Brees, MJD, Fitzgerald

What should I do at 6? Consider the severe scarcity of QB with 12 teams x 2 qb and the scarcity at WR given 12 teams start 4 WR

a) Take Forte? This would mean taking a Qb in round 2 19th overall (I'd probably be able to get McNabb, Schaub or Ryan here no problem), OR snagging a 2nd tier WR like Roddy White, Smith, Wayne, Jennings, Colston, Boldin or Bowe and ending up with a QB like Cutler, Palmer or Cassel in round 3 at 30.

b) Take Rodgers/Manning (if he somehow falls to me at 6 which I doubt he will)? This would likely mean either taking a WR at 19th overall which would probably be Smith, Colston, Bowe or Boldin OR taking a RB that dropped to 19 like Slaton, Gore, Barber or Westbrook and then settling for a WR like Bowe (best case), Ocho Cinco, or T.O.

c) Take Fitzgerald? This would mean taking a QB like McNabb or Ryan in rd 2 at 19 and a RB like LT, Jacobs, Kevin Smith or Pierre Thomas as my #1 rb at 30.

THE OTHER OPTION WOULD BE TO GO RB/WR OR FITZY/RB AND THEN QB, QB IN RD 3 AND 4

JF, I moved this post to the proper forum, you will get some answers here rather then in article discussions.

I think you have 4 options to consider. Forte, AJ, Moss and Manning. I believe Moss and Manning can lead their position in points at the end of the year so those are my 2 choices. Wiht it being a 2 QB league, I would probably take Manning but hoenstly, I have limited experience in 2 QB leagues.

1st off dang this is a crazy leage set up. But I look at 2QB and PPR with 4WR and 2flex.This is just to many people. Your going to be starting crap 5th teamers. BUT......

You must draft a QB with 1st or 2nd round. I wait for 2nd round and get RIvers,ROmo,McNabb,Palmer

1st round: PPR and 4WR's vs 2RB makes me say go WR so go Fitz or AJ for WR. You can get RB's later.

So I go Fitz or AJ then Romo,Rivers,Warner type in the 2nd.

2 QB, 2 RB, 4 WR, TE, 2 W/R/T
LOL at who ever thought this up.

11 starting offensive players x 12 teams= 8-o 8-o 8-o

that aside, i'd wait on QBs. with a league that can start 4 RBs, and 4 WR's, especially one with PPR, you've got a premium on skill position players just as much as you do on QBs. admittedly, the pool to draw from is smaller, but the production dropoffs between tiers (in my opinion, anyway) are lower. i think you can go RB/RB, RB/WR, WR/WR, or WR/RB taking best player available (in this case, i would grab forte in a heartbeat and follow him up with the best RB/WR available) and then fill out your QBs in later rounds.

How is that league going to produce 36 QBs for 12 teams??? I guess some teams may or will run without a back up at that position. Thats comical. LOL

Seriously though, I would grab RB/QB and then shoot for your backup QB between rounds 3 and 5.
