Keeper question - WHIR

Postby aramis16 » Thu Jul 30, 2009 9:24 pm

12-team league, 3 keepers (must have been drafted after the 3rd round of last year).

My current keepers are:

5th round - Roddy White
11th round - Steve Slaton

My dilemma is who to keep for my 3rd keeper:

9th round - Matt Schaub
or
17th round - Donnie Avery

One thing to remember is Avery would be a 17th rounder this year, but would have to kept at the 10th round next year.

I'm expecting big things from Schaub this year as long as he can stay healthy. That offense is loaded, and when he played last season he was very, very good. He is projected as a 6th rounder in our league, so I think that's good value in the 9th especially since I'm high on him.

On the other hand, Avery in the last round is a bargain. But the Rams are terrible and Avery was very inconsistent. It'd really help my depth getting a decent WR that late in a 12 team league, but I think I should stay with the better player this season (Schaub).

Another thing is we start 2 WR, 2 RB and 1 RB/WR, so I doubt I start Avery much in my WR spot. That would be White and a WR I plan on taking 2nd round for most weeks.

Your thoughts? WHIR

I'd keep Schaub.

I would also keep Schaub. The Rams are as bad as they can get. Schaub if he stays healthy can end up being a top 5 QB.

What he said. I'm also very high on Schaub this year. He has a great offense in Slaton, AJ and if Walter can step it up a little bit, I can see dangerous things from that offense.
A win next week and all is forgotten.

IMO I think Schaub is the easy pick here. You get good value that could pay off. Low Risk/Reward. You could target another QB earlier in the draft if you need to.
