It is tough to be on the clock and not actually take AP with the #1 pick. Being a PPR should I take MJD or maybe even Forte here at #1? I would rather be picking at #2 that way the decision would be off my shoulders.
i think either AP or MJD is a fine choice here. i would give the slight edge to MJD. his reception total should be much higher than AP's. he's not quite the sure thing, but the upside is undeniable.
i like both these guys better than forte at #1 overall.
I don't think that I would even think twice about it, I'm taking AP with the #1 no questions asked. He has already proven that he can handle the full workload for a entire season. With MJD he has yet to prove that and he still may end up sharing carries this year. Take the proven rb here. Good luck.
Believe it or not, I'd actually take MJD in a PPR league. AP is not that much of a receiving threat - MJD had triple the receptions of AP last year in part time duty. I also expect MJD to find paydirt a little more often.
Lastly, AP has had a ton of carries the last two years, and we know how that affects RB's health/production. MJD has split time, so should be ready to break out, similar to Turner last year.
I have the #1 pick in my draft as well and am taking AP, but that isn't a PPR league. Thanks for the help with mine.
In PPR leagues, I think that MJD will be the #1 RB this year. I know it hurts's to pass on AP. But, I think they will be even in TD's and total yards. But, I just see MJD catching twice as many balls as AP. Plus, Brad Childress likes to use Chester Taylor. He will be on the field on passing downs and he does get some goal line carries. There is really no one there to take carries from MJD.
I know the temptation is there to take MJD... but I would take AP #1 in any format. While I don't think you can go too far wrong with MJD, I wouldn't want to be known as the guy who passed on AP when/if he has a MONSTER season... he is IMHO by far and away the best RB in the league with the most upside, even in a PPR.

Not yet.... but someone will emerge as a backup (I like Jennings from Liberty to take that job). History has shown that MJD does very well with a limited amount of carries... will JAX give MJD a workhorse amount of carries or continue to limit his touches?
