Trade Help: Witten+Romo+1.09+1.14 for Calvin+Cooley+Collins

Postby AuburnTigers » Fri Jul 31, 2009 11:09 am

I need opinions on whether or not to pull the trigger on this trade offer. I have been offered the following trade:

Witten+Romo+1.09+1.14
for
Calvin+Cooley+Collins

It's a dynasty PPR league with 14 teams. We start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1FLEX, 1TE, 1DEF, 1K

My current roster:
QB - Eli / Campbell / Collins
RB - R. Bush / LJ / F. Jones / J. Norwood / K. Faulk
WR - Cavlin / Boldin / Walter / Hester / Curtis / Randle El
TE - Cooley / Z. Miller

I appreciate any help and will be glad to help in return

You are getting upgraded at QB and TE for sure, but is that worth giving up a stud WR for? Sure you get some rookies, but the 9th and 14th picks are definitely gambles in rookies drafts.
What picks do you have now in the rookie draft?

i'd pass. cooley should bounce back from last year, which wasn't really all that bad, just a low TD total, and i don't know if the upgrade to witten is that significant.

i think romo's numbers are going to take a bit of a hit this year, and CJ is too good to let go of in a dynasty. you're looking at another 5-6 years of stud WR1, minimum, probably closer to 6-7.

the 1.09 isn't going to get you a stud rookie RB, which is what you really need.

stay with what you have.

I'd stand pat. While you definitely could stand to upgrade at QB, Romo is a question mark with TO gone and his history of poor finishes to seasons. I'm not saying he isn't better than Eli, because he is, but if you are giving up someone with Calvin's value (especially in a league where you start 3 WRs and a flex) you should get someone better. I also like Cooley for next year; I think his low TDs last year were aberrational, and even with the low TDs he was a borderline top-5 TE.
