Who do I take on the turn?

Postby djtw » Fri Jul 31, 2009 11:16 am

I am sitting at the 14th pick this season and need help on who to take on the turn. Right now I am thinking top RB available which seems to be Jacobs and either a top 5 WR (Calvin Johnson) or #1 QB (Brees).
Option #1
RB Jacobs
RB Barber
Others (portis, Grant, Pierre Thomas, Westbrook)

Option #2
WR - Calvin Johnson
RB - Probably Jacobs

Option #3
WR - Johnson
QB - Brees

Option #4
QB - brees
RB - Jacobs

It seems like I can get a Bush/McFadden/LJ/Parker in round 3 and 4 as well as a Roy Williams/Vincent Jackson/Evans. I have been trying this out and I am leaning towards a 2 RB scenario and taking Jacobs and Barber on the turn. It is really hard to pass on Brees though, he won me the title last year.

First off, what are your starting requirements and league scoring settings?

i really think you have to take some combination of RBs and WRs here. there will be comparable QBs later in the draft, but you are going to see an enormous dropoff in RB and WR talent the next time you choose. i think i would probably grab calvin johnson and then your choice of jacobs/barber/portis.

personally, i like consistency with my #1 picks moreso than upside, and i would probably take portis. plus he's the only one who might qualify from week to week for the two point 30 RuAtt bonus ;-7

The WR/RB combo seems to be working out best. I can usually get calvin Johnson/Jacobs,barber, or portis and then in the third and fourth Housh, Roy Williams or vincent Jackson and then McFadden seems to be the best RB available.

Who would you take with that 4th round spot?
McFadden/LJ/Ward/Thomas Jones or Moreno

in a non-ppr i'd stay away from housh. i think he's going to disappoint a lot of people this year, at least for where he's being drafted.

also, a 4th rounder is pretty high for an RB in a 3-headed RBBC who plays for the raiders. i think DMC is going a bit high. I see thomas jones losing touches next year between washington and greene entering the picture, and if they start outproducing him, he's gonna take a seat.

i like LJ, ward, and moreno this year. they're all in line to see the bulk of their team's carries and should deliver something every week.
