If that is going to be the case, then McGahee's going to have more value. It makes sense too as Rice operates well with more space, while McGahee operates well with less space.
Well that was pretty telling tonight, McGahee didn't show up until the 2nd team came in the game midway through the 2nd quarter. Check again next week when the starters go about 3 quarters but looks like they have firmly placed Rice in there as the starter.

Rice's body reminds me a bit of MJD. Rice got the goal line carries and was with the first team tonight so I would assume he is going to be the starter. I think the Baltimore coaches just like Rice better because of his work ethic and pass catching ability. Remember it was not long ago that McGahee was being called out by his head coach for being lazy.
With that said, if Rice gets the goal line work he could be an absolute steal relative to his ADP. The guy could easily eclipse 10 TDs behind the Ravens OLine.

With Rice seemingly picking up steam as the RB in Baltimore, where would you draft him? Seems like he could be a very solid RB3, if not more.
His APD of 6th/7th round seems like robbery right now, and I expect it to move this week. Where do you take him, and when does it become to high of a pick to take him?
I think I might consider taking him in the late 5th, especially if they keep him in with the first teamers most of the time this week. I've got some pretty savvy owners picking in the few spots behind me and they may grab him before I could get him in the 6th. It was encouraging to see he got the ball on the GL and not McCLain. It's a shame too that he is playiing Carolina this week, who are just downright awful against the run. I'd be shocked if he didn't have a monster game for the time he is in there. Also remember that Cameron loves to use his backs in the passing game, which they WILL have to do given the lack of play makers at WR.

Ray Rice has been targeted on a ton of swing, circle, and screen passes. Some of these are even designed plays. I think Rice has got 50 catch upside this year. Really starting to warm to the guy, I think he can be a solid RB2 even without the goalline carries.
The TD he saw in preseason 2 was encouraging, but I'm tempering enthusiasm there simply because it was a draw play out of the shotgun. I think Baltimore would be smart to get McGahee in there for short yardage and even throw McClain the occasional bone like Jacksonville does with Greg Jones. Hard to see Rice up past 10 TDs or so. I can definitely see 200+ carries and 50+ catches though and that should be enough.
I was able to draft Rice before this last game for great value late. Very happy to seem him score a TD, but I got McGahee too just in case. Based on latest preseason game, Rice definitely seems to have coaches behind him. However, they both got same amt of carries and it's concerning that Rice didn't do anything spectacular to firmly place himself in first.
Rice is near the top of my list of guys I would love to "land late" who are in murky back field situations - I put him basically in the same group as guys like Addai, McFadden, Moreno, Wells, etc - guys with big upside, but bigger question marks.
I love the upside of Rice, however, the presence of McClain, McGahee, and the lack of a potent passing game makes me hesitant on pulling the trigger on him too early.
Rice is definately on my list of players I want on all of my squads this year - but I won't over pay for him or reach too much.
I need to get into real draft mode and see how things are panning out.
I won't reach for him as early as the 5th (where I'll be looking for McNabb, Addai, McFadden, or a sneaky 3rd WR - Gonzalez or DeSean) - but depending on what's left on the board, he is definately on my radar in the 6th+.
The mess at RB league wide is going to make this year very, very interesting.
