Draft strategy for FOUR team league?

Postby benb18a » Sat Aug 01, 2009 12:54 am

Just for the hell of it, I signed myself up for a custom public Yahoo! four team league, after failing to find an eight team league that didn't have two starting QBs, IDPs etc. Should I draft like normal, or should I try to go even more RB heavy than normal the first half of the draft, to ensure that I have some studs to go with the studly WRs I will still end up with? I plan on letting the other guys take the big name QBs first, while I try to get three top 10 RBs and then some stud WRs, and then grabbing a pair like Rodgers and Phillips etc.

The scoring is standard, no PPR, same with defensive scoring, it's pretty vanilla.

Starting rosters are QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, W/R, K, DST

There are NO WAIVERS in this league, which I find is pretty odd, probably because most of your team will be composed of the cant' cut list lol.

Just like any draft.... take best available talent for the first 50-60 picks.

That's pretty wild to have a 4 team league. Every team is STACKED and I would think comes much more down to luck than even an 8-team league.

lol that was definitely a rush, like I expected. Here is the roster I ended up with; even though it's four people, I still think I'm going to take these guys to school.

Rodgers, McNabb
MJD, Forte, Gore, R Brown, Lynch, P Thomas, K Smith, DMC, LJ
Megatron, Jennings, Boldin, Marshall, Braylon, Evans, Holmes, A Gonzo
Witten

Weird... can't say I have ever seen a 4 team league.

Personally I would have gone after the elite. Those gusy that if they hit can dominate like AD, LT, Moss, Calvin, Brady, Peyton. YOu will need to have truly elite on your team to win this.

ummmm basicly who does not get hurt in the 2009 season ..thats whos team wins.

Pick 4 and 5...Forte and Fitz/Moss
Pick 3 and 6 Turner/Fitz/Moss
Pick 2 and 7 MJD/Fitz/Moss/AJ
Pick 1 and 8 AP/Sjax/fitz/moss/aj
lol

Take the best player there. You can start 4WR's or 3RB so I would lock up a top 1-3 WR then get 2 RB's after that pick. 100% I would wait a long time for TE and QB.

Good luck
