What's #1 Worth?

Postby 12sharks » Wed Aug 05, 2009 7:24 pm

I lucked out with the #1 overall pick in my 10-team draft, but I'm thinking about trading it for other picks. What's fair value? Thanks!

Depends on what the market is. In my leagues, we usually just swap picks for the first two rounds. I had the #3 pick last year, but traded with the #6 pick so I could pick closer together on the first two rds.

Here's mine:

Hm. Isn't that just kind of moving down? If someone really wanted to pick first, wouldn't they have to give up something in return?

I was thinking my 1st/4th for their 1st/3rd or something like that. Am I off base?

I get your 'market demand' thing, though.

I kind've like the deal you said, your first and fourth for their first and third, but if that doesn't fly, maybe just your first for their first and fourth.

It is moving down, but you get a higher pick in the 2nd rd than you would have. For instance, if you traded picks with the number 10 guy, you would get the tenth pick of the 1st and the 3rd of the 2nd rd, whereas he would get the 1st of the 1st rd and the 12th pick of the 2nd rd. That is how we do it usually. Some people like picking at the end of rds.
