PPR league, 10th pick, 10teams **WHIR**

Postby nacaboose » Thu Aug 06, 2009 12:37 am

This is my team for a PPR league with 6pt’s for all TD’s and standard scoring for the rest. I had the tenth pick in the draft. I’m feeling pretty happy with my team. Let me know what you guys think and I will repay you by rating your team. My only concern really is Marion Barber, but I got him at the end of the third round and Kevin Smith right after him so I thought it was good value. I’m also banking on Josh McDaniel’s turning Orton into a solid fantasy starter when Schaub gets hurt.

QB - Matt Schaub, Hou QB ->maybe a reach in 6th, took him ahead of Romo and Ryan, but I love him when healthy

RB - Steven Jackson, StL RB ->Thought I got great value at the tenth pick with SJAX

RB - Marion Barber, Dal RB ->Thought I got good value for him at the end of the third

RB/WR - Kevin Smith, Det RB ->Like the fact that he’s the primary back in Detroit and Schwartz will run

WR - Andre Johnson, Hou WR ->PPR monster and perfect WR1 for my team

WR - Eddie Royal, Den WR ->Loved it when I picked him in the seventh. Will be PPR monster w/5TD

TE - Antonio Gates, SD TE ->Seems to have his funk back, pretty good pick at the end of the 5th

DEF - Chargers D/ST
-> Merriman back, chip on shoulder, and weak AFC west helps

K - Garrett Hartley, NO K
-> Kid was money last year, in dome, Saints score lots

BENCH
Jerricho Cotchery, NYJ WR
->Good WR3 or RB/WR sub and could be awesome in PPR

Ahmad Bradshaw, NYG RB
->Jacobs will get hurt, Bradshaw is #2 and could catch some

Kyle Orton, Den QB
->Josh McDaniels will help him thrive with super potent offense

Felix Jones, Dal RB
->Handcuff and sounds like he will be doing some receiving this year

LeSean McCoy, Phi RB
->Brian is old/injured and McCoy will be a excellent backup/trade
bait

Steve Smith, NYG WR
->Toomer’s replacement and he’s a great sleeper in PPR league

Thanks for your help with mine...

To be able to get that much RB depth plus land Andre Johnson...that's always a good thing. I like that fact that you got a solid backup in case Schaub goes down. Solid depth overall. There is a dropoff after AJ at WR, but not too much to be concerned with. I might have gone for Hixon over S Smith but since he's at the bottom of the WR list it really won't matter too much.

Very nice draft at the 10th spot. SJax is due! Good luck this year!
Passing TDs = 4
All other TDs = 6
100 yd rushing bonus = 4
PPR
All other basic scoring

VERY strict rosters...MUST have:

2 QBs (start 1)
3 RBs (start 2)
4 WRs (start 2)
2 TEs (start 1)
2 D/STs (start 1)
2 Ks (start 1)

Very interesting team. Is this a 10 team or 12 team league. It's amazing to me that Barber lasted all the way to the end of the third round. I know it's PPR and his value does drop some, but he had 52 receptions last year. That's no slouch for a power back. That will drop some this year as Felix Jones is healthy and Barber is moving back into the closer role. I project him for 35-40 receptions with potential if Jones gets nicked up.

QB depth is fine, but my suggestion is to always look to sell high on Schaub. he is slightly injury prone but a solid #1 when on the field. Orton is a gamble as he seems to be having a little trouble learning McDaniel's complicated offense. Watch him in the preseason and first couple weeks, if he looks confident he could be your trade bait or potential starter is Schaub goes down or you move him.

Starting WRs are very solid. This is your best starting position. Being a Jets fan, I'd love to see Cotchery be a PPR stud but I just don't think it will happen. The loss of Coles and more than likely a rookie QB will mean no more than 70-75 receptions. Rookie Qbs love their TEs and I think Keller will be the primary option for Sanchez. Also, the check downs to Leon Washington will increase this year.

Nice team, just like Ronak nice back up RB w/ potential. I like your eddie royal pick, I can see him doing only better w/ brandon marshall so distracted from the game because of his stupidity >.>

QB - Matt Schaub, Hou QB ->maybe a reach in 6th, took him ahead of Romo and Ryan, but I love him when healthy

* You're right, when healthy, he's arguably a top 5 QB. Having one of the most dominant receivers in the league and an up and coming stud at RB certainly doesn't hurt either.

RB - Steven Jackson, StL RB ->Thought I got great value at the tenth pick with SJAX

I'm very high on Jackson this year. New coach, new line, new philosophy, all points to good things for SJAX. Just needs to stay healthy, and he'll be excellent

RB - Marion Barber, Dal RB ->Thought I got good value for him at the end of the third

End of the third is excellent value for Barber. I've seen him go as high as #10. An excellent boom or bust pick, and a great gamble. But just in case...

RB/WR - Kevin Smith, Det RB ->Like the fact that he’s the primary back in Detroit and Schwartz will run

Love Kevin Smith. I mean, they can't possibly be worse than they were last year, right? And even without winning a game, Smith put up some gaudy numbers for the offense he was in, as a rookie. Excellent insurance in case Barber goes down.

WR - Andre Johnson, Hou WR ->PPR monster and perfect WR1 for my team

No explanation needed. Stud. Especially if you have Schaub at QB. Double the points, double the fun.

WR - Eddie Royal, Den WR ->Loved it when I picked him in the seventh. Will be PPR monster w/5TD

Decent pick. If Marshall is being bothered by his injuries, this is a phenomenal pick. Regardless, Royal should be the "Wes Welker" of McDaniels' offense. I like Royal here.

TE - Antonio Gates, SD TE ->Seems to have his funk back, pretty good pick at the end of the 5th

Rivers has turned the corner, and is one of the best QB options out there. Gates is a solid pick here.

DEF - Chargers D/ST
-> Merriman back, chip on shoulder, and weak AFC west helps

Great pick. I feel the Chargers D could end up the top unit in the league this year.

K - Garrett Hartley, NO K
-> Kid was money last year, in dome, Saints score lots

Good kicker in a somewhat poor offense. Could be asked to hit several field goals this year if their offense can't convert

BENCH
Jerricho Cotchery, NYJ WR
->Good WR3 or RB/WR sub and could be awesome in PPR

Great insurance WR here. He's the top dog in New York. Should probably be on the bench, but has decent upside

Ahmad Bradshaw, NYG RB
->Jacobs will get hurt, Bradshaw is #2 and could catch some

Good RB insurance

Kyle Orton, Den QB
->Josh McDaniels will help him thrive with super potent offense

With Royal and Marshall, I suspect Orton will have a better year than he's ever had

Felix Jones, Dal RB
->Handcuff and sounds like he will be doing some receiving this year

Perfect handcuff for Barber

LeSean McCoy, Phi RB
->Brian is old/injured and McCoy will be a excellent backup/trade
bait
Word has it he's thrived in the Philly offense this year. Assuming he stays healthy and he's NOT Brian Westbrook, he's the RB of the future. Great trade chip as you mentioned

Steve Smith, NYG WR
->Toomer’s replacement and he’s a great sleeper in PPR league

Don't know what he has, but he'll have to distinguish himself amidst Hakeem Nicks and Domenick Hixon

Hope this helps...help me?

RB/WR - Kevin Smith, Det RB ->Like the fact that he’s the primary back in Detroit and Schwartz will run

** Definitely a good set of RB just pray that Jackson stays healthy as he is always at risk for injury. I really like Kevin Smith. Barber is good as well.

WR - Andre Johnson, Hou WR ->PPR monster and perfect WR1 for my team

WR - Eddie Royal, Den WR ->Loved it when I picked him in the seventh. Will be PPR monster w/5TD

** Love the 2 WR, great combination of receivers. You might want to try strengthening your 2nd WR but if not it will still be good.

TE - Antonio Gates, SD TE ->Seems to have his funk back, pretty good pick at the end of the 5th

DEF - Chargers D/ST

** I lied about what I said with the WR. Jerricho is definitely a good backup. Your bench is very good, I really like Orton as your backup.

Overrall: A-, definitely should contend in your league. Best of luck

10 Team league, thanks for all of the great feedback.

Hixon was taken real early in this draft and plays the same position as Nicks does so I thought Steve was the best pickup on that team for a PPR league.

Texans have the best OL this year since they were enstated so I look for Schaub to stay healthy this year and lead my team to fantasy dominance.

Once again thanks for posting and I will help in return, I promise.
