WHAT'S NEW
The second half of Washington's 2008 season was about as messy as a pigsty.
The Redskins lost six of their last eight games. Running back Clinton Portis couldn't top 80 yards rushing in his last five games. And quarterback Jason Campbell didn't do much to shake his mediocre reputation as a pro.
But it's a new season, right? Washington players, coaches and fantasy owners have had six months to forgive and forget.
The Redskins' skilled offensive playmakers remain with the team, including key cogs Campbell, Portis, running back Ladell Betts, wide receivers Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El and tight end Chris Cooley.
Washington's defense was treated to a major facelift, thanks to the addition of mega-millionaire defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. Rookie defensive end/linebacker Brian Orakpo and rookie cornerback Kevin Barnes help make the Redskins a sleeper defensive unit in 2009.
Overall, the offseason revealed a few interesting issues: Portis' workload may be lessened, and Campbell isn't feeling the love after the Redskins unsuccessfully tried to acquire Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler.
Unless Campbell breaks out and Portis returns to elite status, the Redskins are still an 8-8 team and they offer an average amount of fantasy options. Let's take a closer look.
