First year of drafting in a keeper

Postby metallicat63 » Fri Aug 07, 2009 11:36 pm

Last year I finished 4th out of 12 so of course this season I draft 1.9.

My keepers are Brady, Fitz, and LT.

I want to know if or when I should handcuff Sproles to LT.Do you guys think LT is done and Sproles can handle the load in the near future?

This is a non PPR league with fractional scoring. This is a very competitive league and there aren't many guys missing top keepers so the pickings will be slim for all 13 rounds.BTW you don't have to keep 1 QB,1-WR and 1-RB,that's just what I did.
One guy has Slaton,Westy and Forte and he finished 10th so he'll be d rafting 1.3!

This is my first draft in a second year keeper so any kind of input or strategy would be greatly appreciated

Any ideas on Sproles or who I might target with the most important first 2 picks 1.9 and 2.4? :-o

I don't see Sproles being anything more than a back up rb in SD or anywhere else, he may be able to carry the team for a game or so, but not for an entire season. I do think that Sproles would be a good handcuff to LT, but as far as a long term keepers I wouldn't worry about him.
As far as who to draft, you have a solid base to start from with Fitz, LT and Brady, so without knowing what players are available I would rank your players and take the best player available with your pick. Good luck.

Agree with above. I wouldn't take Sproules any earlier than the third round(actually 6th round since you keep 3).

I see LT as a top 7 RB on all boards. He is a stud and should put up solid top 8RB numbers. He has a off year last year and still had 12-1300 total yards 12TD (not exact numbers). The coach has said he plans to use LT way more this year. I see Sporles as a back up only, just like any teams back up. I would try to get him, but do not blow a early pick to do so.

LT is solid and a must keep and is your #1 RB!

LT only had 309 carries last year and was hurt. Norv Turner has said he wants LT to get in the range of 320 carries. LT will produce this year. Look at what he did last year when he was hurt with turf toe. I would try and target the best available RB that is on the board at 1.9 and then follow with the best WR available or vice-versa.
A win next week and all is forgotten.
