3 Keepers - No Penalties - Not So Obvious As I Thought!!

Postby manicottimafioso » Sat Aug 08, 2009 9:13 am

Fellas, I have a couple of weeks until my draft, but I have a couple of good trade opportunities that I don't want to squander! I am in a 10-team, head-to-head, PPR-league (WRs/TEs only) and we are allowed to keep 3 players (only 1 at any one position). We are not penalized for any draft picks by our keepers and I have the 4th overall pick in a snake-style draft. Here's my current potential keepers and my issues!

1st keeper:
- Drew Brees - no brainer keeper

2nd keeper:
- Brian Westbrook - normally a no-brainer, but with injury issues and McCoy being drafted makes me a little skiddish
- Darren McFadden - he'd be the only other RB on my squad that I would keep, RBBC? and playing for Oakland is a concern

3rd keeper:
- Dwayne Bowe - I kinda' like Bowe this year with Cassel under center and the fact that he should get more targets with Gonzalez gone -- one owner is shopping Boldin, Roddy White, and OchoCinco, so I could trade for one of these guys but I'd have to give up a draft pick
- Dallas Clark - I like him alot this year to benefit from Marvin Harrison's absence, but I don't usually go for TEs early in the draft anyway, much less as a keeper

Please help!!!

Brees-Duh

Westbrook-Too much upside not to take him with a free flier, DMC has been overrated since he entered the league, and in an RBBC on a team with a terrible D, meh, i'll pass. Lots of people in the cafe love him though, i'm not one of them.

Bowe-tons of TE value in the draft this year. Clark is great, sure, but Bowe could finish out in the top5 WRs this year. I have him easily in the top10. i wouldn't make a deal for any of the guys you listed because i don't think any of them are a substantial upgrade over bowe, some are even downgrades.

grab the best available RB with #4 overall, and you'll be off to a very nice start.

Brees, Bowe and Westy. Try and grab McCoy sometime in the 3rd round or very late 2nd if you can.

The hardest decision for me was between McFadden and Westy. I LOVE the upside that McFadden has, but it doesn't even come close to what Westy can do. He can single-handily win you weeks. Keep these three; Brees, Bowe and Westy.
A win next week and all is forgotten.

I'm right on with what he said!

Side note: Westy is the man. Even if he missed 3-4 games he still will put up 1200 total yards and 8TD. I think McCoy will help him take some of the work and give him a much needed break. I see Westy killing it this year. He has never had help...and they have a good core of WR's.
