Shaking off the rust...

Postby GoodStash » Sun Aug 09, 2009 12:13 am

Shaking off the rust...first mock draft of the year. QB's score low (TD=3, 20 yards=1, 350+yards=5 points.)so I'm a little disappointed I opted for Romo so early. 12 team league, Yahoo default scoring. What could I have done differently and does everybody agree I should get 2 RBs and 3 WRs before I get a QB? Starting QB,RB,RB,WR,WR,WR,TE,K,D/ST:

1. Maurice Jones-Drew (Jac - RB)
2. Tony Romo (Dal - QB)
3. Roddy White (Atl - WR)
4. Thomas Jones (NYJ - RB)
5. Santonio Holmes (Pit - WR)
6. Kevin Walter (Hou - WR)
7. Chris Cooley (Was - TE)
8. Cedric Benson (Cin - RB)
9. Matt Cassel (KC - QB)
10. Chris Chambers (SD - WR)
11. Muhsin Muhammad (Car - WR)
12. Tampa Bay (TB - DEF)
13. Jerious Norwood (Atl - RB)
14. Devery Henderson (NO - WR)
15. Rian Lindell (Buf - K)

I agree, waaayyy too early for Romo in a league with scoring like that. I think Romo finishes in the top 5 at QB without TO so that'd be a questionable pick even with more favorable QB scoring.

That Romo pick really threw off your whole draft. I think Thomas Jones keeps the bulk of the carries for the Jets, but Leon Washington and Shonn Greene limit his upside which makes him for a risky RB2.

In all honesty, this team just does not look very good. I think you should try another mock and post your results here again.

I agree....Romo threw off the entire draft...you should usually go best player available....the top 3 picks are the basis of your team and need to be solid...if i have a top 3 pick i usually go RB-WR-WR-RB....if i have anything from 6-12 i try to get a top tier wr and possibly go WR-WR-QB because of the great value of late round backs....anyway...for my team i drafted 3rd and went with the rb-wr-wr-rb-qb strategy...i got FORTE-JENNINGS-R.WHITE-JSTEW-P.RIVERS

please help me out with working the knots out of my roster

I attempted another 12 team mock draft and I'm still not happy with my team?...I think drafting early is a downfall this year. Can't get it down :-°

2. Greg Jennings (GB - WR)
3. Pierre Thomas (NO - RB)
4. Braylon Edwards (Cle - WR)
5. Antonio Bryant (TB - WR)
6. Jay Cutler (Chi - QB)
7. Willie Parker (Pit - RB)
8. Devin Hester (Chi - WR)
9. Chris Wells (Ari - RB)
10. Visanthe Shiancoe (Min - TE)
11. Steve Breaston (Ari - WR)
12. Kevin Curtis (Phi - WR)
13. Chad Pennington (Mia - QB)
