Starting positions: QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, Offensive flex, 3 IDPs, D/ST, K with 7 bench
My top 3 players are a lock, but are highly dollar-saturated:
QB Brees - $32 - 16%
WR Wayne - $28 - 14%
WR Berrian - $3 - 1.5%
------------------------
The total dollar cost of these 3 players comes to be $63, which invests 31.5% of my cap. At this point, I am $137 under the cap.
RB Westbrook - $48 - 24%
Grant - $32 - 16%
T Jones - $30 - 15%
F Taylor - $11 - 5.5%
J Gage - $2 - 1%
Edge - $11 - 5.5%
W Dunn - $1 - .5%
B Jackson - $1 - .5%
J Campbell - $6 - 3%
So here is my dilemma: I can make what may seem like the agressive-minded approach here and spend $30 or $32 on Thomas Jones or Ryan Grant, respectively. OR I could play it cheap, keep my 3rd or 4th RB for this season in F Taylor, and save some additional dough for a true #2 RB. R Grant has good upside, and I felt last year that he warranted a full $32 in a shallow auction league. I just don't know if a player I have seen ranked < 20th RB overall will warrant close to 30% of my remaining budget...? What if I handcuffed BJax behind Grant for a $33 TOTAL investment?
What would you do if you were in my situation: pay for the top talent (in Grant), regardless of the cap ramification OR play it safe, keep a cheap 3rd RB and save up for a true #2 RB in the draft?
At 30 years old, is Westbrook worth 1/4 my cap??? AHH, too many issues!
