How to draft

If we start Wednesday the 19th and get approx 1 round per day we could be done in time...the season kicks off Thursday Sept 10th so I think I need to have the rosters in Wednesday (and have every set their lineup).

For a slow draft we would have to go to an 8 hour limit (with the clock off from say 12AM - 6 AM).

I'm for an online draft not on Aug 27-30th. There is no way we'd get through the slow draft in time.

I'd prefer a slow draft. It's a lot easier to get to know each other when we're posting here and checking in continuously over a few weeks time than it is for an hour long live draft. Not that activity is going to be a problem in a league full of Cafe veterans, but I think the season would be more enjoyable if we did a little bonding now.

Also, like bigken said, we still have over 20 days before the season starts. With 20 man rosters, that's a little less than a round a day. I don't think we'd have a problem completing that.

All a slow draft would allow me to do is, slowly show how much I don't know about football, and up my post count here. Live for me.

I just don't know that we have time for a slow draft. I voted last weekend of August for a live - I'd love that Sunday (Aug. 30th) as that's when my other draft happens to be as well and if I can knock them both out in one day that would be outstanding.

How about a semi-slow draft on couchmanagers? It has a queue so it goes much quicker. We'd be done in a week.

That's actually a very good idea. Never heard of the site but the concept sounds pretty simple.

Can you have somebody make a pick for you? Because I probably won't have access to that site at work. It's weird, I have access to the baseball side but none of the others. We'll see how long that lasts. But either way, I'm definitely going to need some help making my picks unless we did a live draft on a Weds or Sunday

You can queue up as many players as you want, and they will automatically be taken for you when your turn rolls around. And there are settings for the maximum number of rounds you want it to pick. The draft commish can also pick for any team. I have a baseball league that drafts there every year. We typically finish 26 rounds in 10-12 days.
