Finished Drafting in 10 Team Yahoo Non-Keeper...WHIR!

Postby mm92280 » Mon Aug 17, 2009 6:48 pm

I just finished drafting in my 10 team yahoo non-keeper (standard yahoo scoring). I am very happy with the results but wanted to get some thoughts on my team, as, obviously, people always value players differently.

Here is my team, round by round by position:

1st - L. Tomlinson (7th overall)
2nd - C. Johnson (14th overall)
3rd - R. Brown (27th overall)
4th - A. Boldin (34th overall)
5th - A. Rodgers (47th overall)
6th - TJ Houschmandzadeh (54th overall)
7th - D. Jackson (67th overall)
8th - K. Moreno (74th overall)
9th - M. Schaub (87th overall)
10th - L. Johnson (94th overall)
11th - P. Harvin (107th overall)
12th - K. Walter (114th overall)
13th - R. Rice (127th overall)
14th -B. Celek (134th overall)
15th - SD Defense (147th overall)
16th - N. Kaeding (154th overall)

My team:

QB: A. Rodgers
RB: L. Tomlinson
RB: C. Johnson
WR: A. Boldin
WR: TJ Houschmandzadeh
TE: B. Celek
WR/TE: D. Jackson
WR/RB: R. Brown
K: N. Kaeding
DEF: SD

Bench:

M. Schaub (QB)
K. Moreno (RB)
L. Johnson (RB)
R. Rice (RB)
P. Harvin (WR)
K. Walter (WR)

My thoughts: I was determined to go RB-RB in the first two rounds to ensure that I would get 2 legit studs there. After that, I tried to concentrate on taking the best players available, while taking into account my team need. I have to say that I was trying to avoid KC players like the plague (as everyone else in my draft apparently did as well) but, when Larry Johnson fell to the 10th round I felt I had no choice but to draft him simply due to his talent. I still think KC is going to be awful this year but I'm hoping LJ can hold up enough to play at least 12 games. Regardless, I had to take him when he fell that far. I know some might think I reached by taking Desean Jackson in the 7th (67th overall) but he's a dynamic talent and I think you will see him score quite a bit more this year. I think he's a very good WR3. I do believe my one weakness is at TE. My plan had been to look at guys picking either Greg Olsen or Chris Cooley in the 9th or 10th but that just didn't work out. So, I went to a guy I viewed as a late sleeper in Ben Celek. I think he could be serviceable for me playing in the Philly offense.

So, what do you guys think? Strengths? Weaknesses? Where do you think I reached for players and what were my best values?

I always like to hear thoughts and reviews on my draft and overall strategy. If you would like some help, leave me a link and I'll take a look at your question. Thanks!

Very good team. I was reading the draft and I thought you took ocho cinco in round 2 for a second :)

Lol. No, that is definitely Chris Johnson, not Chad Johnson/Ochocinco. I actually had Ocho quite a bit farther down my draft board than most others, as I don't see him really getting back to form at all. He's more interested in media coverage than in his play on the field. He would have had to have fallen past the 8th round for me to even consider drafting him.
