2010 Starting QB'S

Postby abrunn11 » Wed Aug 19, 2009 11:13 am

I am in a 12 team keeper auction league that starts (2) Qb's. QB's are extremely valuable in this league and many of them are kept from year to year. I am trying to look for guys that will have a good chance of starting next season and get them in the auction for $1 this year, hold on to them all year and keep them next year. We also have a (2) round rookie draft before the auction so guys like Stafford, Sanchez, and Freeman will probably be taken and not available in the auction. Anyone have any thoughts on who could be a starter next season that is not a starter this season?

A few that I thought of;

1: Chad Henne. Pennington is an UFA in 2010 and getting old. They also drafted Pat White but I do not feel like they are looking at him as the QB of the future.
2: Michael Vick. One year deal with an option for a second year. I can see either him or McNabb being traded after this season.
3. Washington Redskins. No idea who is going to be the starter there next season. They made a push for Cutler this off-season show that they are not exactly thrilled with Campbell. Campbell is an UFA after this season. I do not see Collins or Brennan as the starter there next season.
4: Denver Broncos. again, no idea who will be starting there next season. Orton is an UFA after this year.
5. Carolina Panthers. Delhomme is an UFA after the season and not exactly a spring chicken. I do not really see an viable in-house candidates for next season.
6. Oakland. This has to ne Russell's last chance as a starter. I do not see him maintaining his starting job next season. Not sure if Garcia will take over or if the will go FA route.
7. 49ers. Brutal situation! Anything could happen there.
8. Rams I could see Boller eventually starting there at some point this or next season.
9. Tennessee. If Young shows some signs of life he will be starting somewhere next year.

Can you guys think of anything else?

Leinart in Arizona could be one.

I think that Henne could be one of the better options here, if Miami falters and is out of the race then you may see Henne starting this year, remember Pennington is on the last year of his deal. I think that there are several teams that could have new starters next year also:
Minnesota- who know what Favre will do
Carolina- they need a long term answer with Delhomme getting a lil older
Arizona- Warners singed for 2yrs, he is up there in age
Washington- well with there owner you never know
SF - Hill will be the starter for them this year, but not a good fantasy option

The 10' draft class will also have Teabow, McCoy and Bradford coming out next season, so that could be the answer for a few of the clubs mentioned up above. For now I would look at Henne and keep an eye on Denver with the qb they drafted this year Tom B (can't remember his last name), if Orton and Simms can't do the job they may use him. Good luck.

Id look for backups who could get traded. Here's a few that come to mind:
Vick
Shaun Hill (SF) probably starts this year
Rosenfelds/Tavaris (Favre cant go another year...can he?)
Derrick Anderson
Vince Young
