I just traded up in my draft to 2.06 to grab one of these RB's.
Before I get into details though, my league settings are as followed:
-10 teams - Redraft -$$ league -16 total players - We start either 1 QB 2 RB 2 WR 1 TE 1 PK 1 DT OR 1 QB 1 RB 3 WR 1 TE 1 PK 1 DT - Standard scoring + PPR league (1 point per reception)
I was elated to have the #2 pick in the draft and get MJD (especially since its a PPR league).
Ok, so even though it's a $$ league, people in my league are clearly morons since its already the 16th pick and these #1 RB's are still available at pick 16.
I decided that I had to trade up and get one of these studs...the value was too good not too.
So....this was the trade that landed me this pick:
I received: 2.06, 3.05, 7.05, 13.05
I gave up: 2.09, 3.02, 7.02, 13.02
Essentially I went up 3 slots to 2.06 in exchange for bumping him up 3 slots in the 3rd, 7th, and 13th.
I don't know if this was a smart move or not, but I felt like being able to land 2 stud RB's was worth the price... I didn't want to risk Johnson, Slaton, and Gore going consecutively in the next three picks before I could snatch one of them up.
I'm leaning towards taking Johnson, but there's something about Slaton that I just love, so I'm not able to just take Johnson without asking for advice first.
Now for the players left on the board who are best available:
-Chris Johnson - Steve Slaton - Frank Gore -Marion Barber III - Reggie Bush - Brandon Jacobs -Portis -Ronnie Brown - Peyton Manning - Wayne - Welker - Roddy White - Steve Smith -Jennings -Colston
Since it's PPR-- I think Slaton will be a monster with that offense and piece of cake schedule (oh and a healthy Schaub, hopefully!)
BUTT-- I just don't know if I can pass on Chris Johnson...even if White steals touchdowns.
SOOOO WHO SHOULD I TAKE with 2.06 to complement MJD!?!??!
Hahahahahaha....not sure what Bailey is thinking??? Replying with his own personal picks?? (No help)
I would choose Slaton first, then CJ and then Gore!
Slaton will be a monster and has no real backup/players stealing his thunder
CJ has White vulturing the TD's but should post better #'s then last season which will be huge!
Gore is great especially in PPR and they have said they will run all day long this year but Gore is an injury risk and they also already said that Coffee will see alot of action this year as well!
Good Luck!
WhipperSnappers44!!!
Standard H2H 12 Team 1 Pt PPR, Start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1 FLEX (RB/WR/TE), 1TE, 1K, 1 DEF
i like CJ, he will still get more yards and TDs then Gore IMO, yes White will vulture TDs but he will still get the yardage total and look for 50 Receptions out of him this year. i also take CJ over Slaton simply because i think defenses will figure out how to stack the box and still cover AJ at the same time this year, and Brown is hanging around in Houston... i think CJ is the better of the 3 on the better of the 3 teams overall...
In PPR I have Slaton and Gore ranked over Chris Johnson. I'm not a huge fan of Johnson this year, I think the Titans won't be as good and he won't have as many opportunies.
However I believe Gore and Slaton are on 2 up and coming teams and should both do well this year. I have them fairly evenly matched and I would flip a coin between the 2 of them in my opinion. I would say the safer pick is Gore but Slaton has more potential. Sorry if this isn't much help.

I think Chris Johnson is going to have a down year. I think LenDale is going to steal many short yardage scores from him. I am also torn between Slaton and Gore. I have heard great things about Gore in training camp this year and Slaton could lose Goaline carries to Chris Brown. Maybe go with Gore. He also gets receptions. Tough decision though.
