My keeper league retains 7 total players every year, (2 of which are rookies from the prev. year) so you can basically equate our 1st round to the 6th or 7th rd. of a re-draft league. I'm debating who I take at QB right now, and it's a distinct possibility that I could have the 7th, 10th, and 11th picks by trading a player for the 7th pick. I'm thinking that I go WR, TE (Clark), and QB to secure the rest of my starting roster right away.
The following QBs have already been kept:
Brees
Brady
Manning
Rivers
Rogers
I'm looking at the following QBs to be available (ordered by last year's scoring totals):
Cutler
McNabb
Pennington
Garrard
Romo
Eli
Orton
Big Ben
Schaub
Eli
I WILL NOT draft Romo ( No TO, crashes every Dec, I started Thigpen instead to win my Super Bowl). I am also not going to take Eli. Who I'm really thinking about right now is Schaub, McNabb, Big Ben.
I'm leaning towards Schaub because I think he can have a great season if he stays healthy. If I take Schaub, I'll be targeting at backup QB with some higher upside earlier then usual.
I think McNabb just hasn't been consistent enough in recent years, although his WRs and his Oline are getting better and better. I'm not sure how Vick getting on the field for Wildcat scenarios effects him though.
I think Big Ben is just an average QB, but he's on the upper end of the 2nd tier and he won't really cost you games, he just won't overwhelmingly push you over the edge into winning them either.
So what do you guys think? Who would you take given my options here? WHIR
