The only problem I have with Harvin as a WR is that he is still a raw player.
Watch the guy in the preseason, he is running some wrong routes, he's dropped a couple of passes, and most of the plays going to him are out of design rather than offensive function. Here is a guy that is going to be a full time kick returner and potentially the punt return as well. throw him in on a couple Wildcat plays on average too. The guy IS going to get utilized in a lot of different situations, so I don't think there will be a groundswell of pressure to get this guy on the field at the WR position full time. Minnesota doesn't necessarily need a boom or bust player like Harvin on the field full time because you've got the biggest big play RB in the league demanding a lot of carries on early downs anyways. Why not utilize this guy like a Leon Washington/Darren Sproles-esque part time game breaker at the WR position? Is there such a thing as a change of pace WR?
I think Berrian and Rice are both more experienced and similarly talented WIDE RECEIVERS compared to Harvin and that the rookie learning curve at WR will be in full effect here. It's gonna take an injury to one of these two guys to get Harvin on the field for 40-50 snaps a game like a true starter. Bobby Wade is a pretty marginal player, but I'm thinking Favre might prefer a vet on 3rd down in the slot compared to a rookie who may not make the right break and cost them possession of the ball. Time will tell, but I'm thinking 40-50 catches is Harvin's max this year without major injuries at the position. They will goto this guy on screens and quick slants etc. and get him on the field in multi-wide sets. But is Harvin the guy you want running precision routes and double moves down the field while Favre is taking pressure in the pocket? Guy needs experience, Minnesota is built to win this year and can't deal with regular rookie mistakes.

If you're going to avoid a player because of injury history then you may as well scratch half of the players in the NFL from your cheat sheet. Especially guys like Adrian Peterson and Tom Brady.
No, not half, but close. I do cross guys off for injury issues. I still wouldn't take AP, unless he fell far to me. No, I'd rather have MJD over him this year. And no, Brady isn't on the "don't draft-injury" list- one freak accident doesn't make him prone to injury.

I cant tell you how excited I am to have him as my WR5!!! I mean did you watch the 3rd preseason game? He was on the field for 80% of the plays and touched the ball (or was targeted) on 3/4 of those! Its obvious they want to use him in any way they can........
The dude is gonna be a check down underneath for Favre all year and will blow it up!
That's the ideal for Harvin- get him as a bench WR (#4 is hoping for too much, #5 is good value) and win big if the gamble works.

I also cross off players for injuries. I disagree with you on AP, who I'd take in a heartbeat over MJD except for full ppr leagues but I agree 100% on Brady. No reason to scratch him because of "one freak accident" as you put it. I was only trying to point out that nobody should be completely unconsidered at any draft position simply because they've been injured in the past. With today's medical advances these guys are able to come back from injuries that even 15 years ago would have ended their careers.
Also trying to stay somewhat on topic:
One thing that does have me a little concerned are Percy's off the field issues. The local media in Minneapolis weren't calling him "Cheech Harvin" for nothing. I won't completely ignore him in a draft but like others have said, I'm not taking him as my WR3 unless it's a 20 team league or has lucrative KR/PR yardage points.

Adrian Peterson has had a fairly serious injury in 4 out of the last 5 years. Not that I think he's any more likely to get hurt than anyone else (see sig), but if you're discounting people for an injury history then you should be including him as well. Harvin's injury "history" is far less extensive than Peterson's.
Also keep in mind, with regards to Harvin, is that he was a WR often lining up at RB. RBs always tend to get nicked up, and Harvin went through an added pounding that no other WRs do. It remains to be seen whether or not Harvin is a guy who gets injured often or the picture of perfect health when he's not getting 80 carries in a season (which he won't come anywhere near in the NFL).
I would have to agree that this guy is electric! He could be considered a 3WR I picked him up in the 12th round of my league. My team is pretty stacked with WR and we do not get points for return yards but I do play on holding onto him.
QB: Cutler, Favre RB: Peterson, Gore, Pierre Thomas, Sproles (hoping LT goes down) WR: Wayne, Welker, Ocho, Mason, Harvin TE: Shiancoe, and looking for another sleeper help me out guys was going to get a NE TE but thats a mess Def: Minn, Pats
