Olsen, Avery, Hightower, Sproles...who to keep? WHIR 100!!!!

Postby saemick » Sat Aug 22, 2009 7:52 pm

My keepers are due in about 3 hrs. I can keep 1 of the following for free or 2 for an extra $5 (real money, not auction).

Standard 12-team league, Non-PPR. Scoring = 6pts per TD, 1pt per 10yds rush/rec.

Player-----------------draft round would lose
Greg Olsen (CHI - TE)-------------Round 8
Donnie Avery (STL - WR)-----------Round 18
Darren Sproles (SD - RB)-----------Round 18
Tim Hightower (ARI - RB)----------Round 18

I'm thinking Avery for sure as he's the #1 in STL (yes, I know he's hurt, but worth an 18th round pick), but I'm still pretty torn

Please help me and let me know why.

As always, leave a link

I'd just keep Avery. An 18th round pick is obviously fantastic value for him. Sproles would be tempting too I guess - I'm not familiar with auction type values though so I would probably just say no. Olsen is fairly tempting as round 8 is pretty good value for him - I think he can be on the elite tier of TE this year - but I would say don't bother with keeping a TE.

Good luck!

Sorry for the confusion. the $5 is actual cash in addition to the league fee. this is not an auction, it's a standard snake draft.

please let me know if that changes anything

i agree Avery for sure and that might be it. Olsen for and 8th round isn't too bad, but i think you could get better in the draft if you wanted to. only other guy i would think alot about is Hightower, he will be the TD vulture in ARI and slotted as the 'starter' right now but i think Wells will overtake him before too long if he hasn't already, if you could keep Avery and Hightower for an 18th+$5 i would seriously think about it. those would be my top 2 picks but considering Wells will get the yardage and its a pass heavy offense i think Hightower is only good for a few rushing TDs here and there, i would pass and just keep Avery if it were me... thanks for the help on mine!

Don't think I helped you out in time, but I'd go with Sproles. I think he's the future RB for the Chargers with LT hitting the big 30+ mark soon. I remember one time when Belichick (or some other head coach) was trying to formulate a gameplan against the Chargers. He said that he wasn't worried about LT or Gates. He was more worried about Sproles.

First off, thanks for the help with mine.

Hope I'm not too late, I just logged in for the day. Anyhow, I would definitely keep Avery. And if you have future value in keeping Sproles it might be worth the $5 to go ahead and grab him too. Hope it helps!

I agree here to just keep Avery!

Avery = #1 WR (hurt but will play eventually).....you get him for free and only give up an 18 Rounder
Sproles has LT
Hightower has Wells
Olson = not bad but for a round 8 and an extra $5? No thanks!

Keep Avery only!
