2nd or 8th pick? WHIR

Postby fierro33 » Sun Aug 23, 2009 2:43 am

ive been offered to swap my 8th draft slot for his 2nd draft slot in a 10 teamer.

high scoring league:

1pt per every 5 pass attempts
1pt per every 3 completions
bonus 5 pts for 200 yds
bonus 10 pt for 300 yds

1pt per every 3 rushing attempts
5pts after reaching 20 attempts
5pt bonus for 100 rushing yds
10 pt bonus for 200 yds

1 pt per reception
5pts after reaching 10 receptions

tds are depending on length of tds

with the 8th pick my plan was to take brady or brees if there, then take a stud wr andre, moss.calvin whoever falls....then take 2 rbs with my 3rd/4th

but with the 2nd overall pick i can take turner or AP whoever falls, but wouldnt get a stud wr or brees or brady.

which slot would u rather have considering the scoring? 2nd or 8th?

Unusual scoring system.

I always check overall scoring and see what positions are most important and plan my draft accordingly. I always make sure I have one or two top starting options at the most important positions.

Stay at #2 and then draft a QB in the second or third rd. (manning should be on the board at such time).

yeah its tempting to go with 8th and take brady or brees and then end up with brady/calvin/grant/pierre if all goes well, but taking turner at 2 is also tempting he looks really good

Turner isn't even in top 5 discussion for me when you are drafting in a PPR league. MJD or AP will be available for you at #2. Since it is PPR league I would strongly consider LT at the number 2 spot if MJD is off the board.

With the number 2 take AP/MJD
On the way back grab Brees/Brady (probably not there) Go best WR/RB
3 take best QB avail Manning/Rogers
fill out from there

its not really a ppr league......u get points for carries:

1pt per every 3 rushing attempts
5pts after reaching 20 attempts
5pt bonus for 100 rushing yds
10 pt bonus for 200 yds

1 pt per reception

I am not one for taking an early pick this year as there is alot of great later round RB/WR picks but if it's a straight pick for pick swap and you are moving down to the #2 spot then you absolutely do this and don't look back. If you have to trade another round or something then I wouldn't do it or I would at least think about it but straight for straight then do it and get MJD/LT for PPR and AP/Turner for non-PPR and the dark horse that nobody considers this year at those spots (Forte)......I beleive he will lead the NFL this year in many CATS!

Good Luck!

take it from me...i have been mocking heavily at the 2 spot in 10 teamers(NONPPR)for the last couple days. Even in a PPR league there are strong similarities.

It sucks. I have been having all kinds of trouble.

My main problem comes from drafting 2rbs and 1wr in the 1st 3 rounds. My teams have been discombobulated from round 4 and out. Unless I go RB-WR-WR then I take a mixture of high floor rbs and high risk rbs to round out my rb2 and rb3. This is how I have built my most satisfying teams.

The trade off is getting 1 super high end rb and hoping players fall to you.

At the 8th spot you can dictate trends grabbing strong players from different tiers. From the 2 I was forced to pick from the bottom of tiers. Leaving me with junk.

Thats my advice. Im not sure if others have had more positive experiences.
