PPR league. Current keepers are Rodgers, MJD, McFadden, Jennings, Welker, Royal. I have the first overall pick. I was all ready to select Moreno, when I see that the Smith owner has thrown him back. I imagine Smith would be a better benefit to me this season. What about the long-term? I'd love to have a solid PPR back to lock down with MJD going forward.
I think there is a chance (I'm not sure how big it is) I might catch Rice coming around in round 2. It's a straight draft, not a snake.
Thoughts?
12-team PPR, start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1 flex (RB/WR/TE), 1D/ST Unlimited keepers, but more than 6 cost draft picks, starting w 1st Rnd

You have 2 solid backs, so taking the chance with Moreno would offer higher value IMO. Denver RBs always seem to do well and I would imagine he will have some catches this year as well. Im not sure who all is in Denver now, Buckhalter 1 Moreno 2 I believe. I dont know how solid Buckhalter is as a starter even though he is a great 2back
Edit: Is there any other picks you are thinking about at 1?

With the three WRs I have, I was planning on waiting on them a bit. Figured I better go RB. I have the number one pick, so I could grab any rookie. Thomas Jones is available. Lendale MAY be available.

god this is a sticky situation but overall i go for value, i would much rather a value pick then a lesser player at a needed position. with that said i would go with Steve Smith 100% over Moreno. you have 2 very, very solid backs and have a shot the shot at owning a top 5 QB, top 3 RB and 2 top 10 WR. take Smith over Moreno, yes Knowshon may be good for years to come, but hes been battling injuries this preseason and this year still has a ton of competition (just like EVERY year in Denver) for the starting job, and quite frankly i think Buckhalter takes alot more carries then everyone is playing it out to be. lock down Jennings and Smith as your 1/2 combo, then depending on whats left at your 2nd pick take the highest valued RB, after this flip Royal's big time value with either DMac or the RB you draft in the 2nd for a much bigger RB... if all goes well in this situation you could end up with a lineup that looks something along these lines:
QB-Rodgers WR-Jennings WR-Steve Smith WR-Wes Welker RB-MJD RB-Kevin Smith/Ryan Grant/Pierre Thomas/Slaton maybe even (a little reach but still aim high) Portis
that would be a stealthy ass lineup... take the FOR sure thing in Steve Smith over what COULD be in Moreno...
I would take Moreno. Even this year, I think that Moreno as a rook will do better than smith. Denver is a better team even without cutler and they thought highly of him to draft him high whereas denver usually finds their RB's off the street. For that fact alone, the upside is well worth it
Tough call. Kevin Smith was extremely productive last year. Moreno has some upside but with that denver backfield who knows whos going to start. I would go with the safer pick and draft Smith. Smith will be the lions back for years to come.
