Value of TE's? WHIR

Postby tdmel30 » Mon Aug 24, 2009 8:47 am

My leauge does not require a TE to start, but allows you to use one in the flex position. It also has the added scoring of PPR for TE's only.

Where do you see this putting the top TE's in relation to the top WR's? Last year Gonzalez outscored all receivers by about 40 pts. I think he will have a good year this year, but don't see him putting up the same numbers. Mostly because Atlanta has more options that the Chiefs did.

Am I wrong in thinking that Gonzalez, Witten, and Gates should be right in the mix with Fitzgerald, Moss, Johnson, and Johnson?

Are there any other TE's that would rank among the top 10-20 WR's?

Target Witten or forget about it. Seriosuly, he's the only TE this year that should put up #'s like a WR. The rest are unpredictable for the most part. Don't overthink it... stick w/ those stud WR's and value WR's.

I really think it depends on the PPR scoring.....

I also son't think Gonzo fairs as well and I agree with the other poster about Witten but depending on the scoring for PPR I think there are a few other TE's who could be worthy of putting up great points based on the scoring (Gates, Clark, Witten, etc....)

Wow, with it being ppr for te's that is big. I would say Witten could be huge this year, with no TO. And I think Gates could have a rebound year if he is healthy again. I'm not as high on Gonzo, not sure what will happen with him in that offense. I think that the top four of Witten, Gates, Gonzo and Clark will all be equal to a low end # 1 wr, with each of them having potential to score up with the top wr's with your scoring systems. Good luck.

Yeah I think you go the other way. With PPR for TEs only that raises their value above many WRs. I still wouldn't pick a TE over the top-tier WRs but I do like guys like Witten, Gates, Clark, Cooley, Olsen, etc. over most WR2.

Again, with PPR for TE only I think you should target a TE early. Even if you don't grab a tier one TE you can still rack up points with a TE who gets a lot of looks. I'd rather have Daniels or Shiancoe that get 5-8 catches a game PLUS PPR than Braylon Edwards or Santonio Holmes, who might have more yardage but don't have the benefit of PPR.

Good luck! Please see mine:
