both labelled a BUST and Bryant labelled a cancer and trouble maker as well.. Whats the risk?? NONE.. I'm not telling you to do anything.. Get your backup kicker in the last round of your draft for all I care... I leave a slot for guys just like this... Just a different way of doing business.. I nabbed FWP the first year when nobody knew who the undrafted rookie was...I had Colston, I missed Bryant. I take fliers and sometimes they pan out.. Some times they dont. Lastyear Nobody drafted Bryant... Few had Deangelo Williams other then maybe a #3 or 4rb even though he was lighting up the preseason...
i like this thread. these are the kinda players that make championships if they pan out. No one here is saying he will but i like the idea. We'll see if he even starts across from Holt initially or not. Remember that there are still other flyiers out there. But sum1 has to catch balls in Jax and Holt is going WAAAAAAAAAAAAY to high to be considered imo. Ill keep an eye out on his next game

Dave Richard, CBS Sportsline: recent take on this "Cat":
Fantasy owners have been burned twice by wide receiver Troy Williamson. The first time we thought he'd be effective was when he was a rookie in Minnesota where he'd speed past defenses for deep-ball touchdowns week after week. Then after he had an eye surgery to improve his vision, we thought he'd rebound after a lackluster start. Some Fantasy owners even gave him a look last year when the Jaguars picked him up.
Now he's tearing it up in the preseason and Fantasy owners are once again considering their options with him. In his most recent game against the Buccaneers, Williamson went untouched from the snap to the end zone, hauling in a beautiful rainbow pass in stride from David Garrard. There were some defensive lapses by the Bucs on the play, but his speed was undeniable. Williamson added a second long catch on a catch-and-run where Garrard hit him perfectly.
He's right on all counts.. Folks have been burned by this guy in the past and he hes boom or bust. He is worth a late round flier which is where I grabbed him. I am in a deeper wr league (10 temaer and we start 4 wrs) ... I dropped Joey Galloway for him so no risk at all in my eyes. The guy is my #8 wr... (19 roster slots) My league reward yardage and length of td and if this guy can catch bombs, he becomes pretty valuable..
Personally preseason holds a lot of value for me. If he tears it up again, he's almost guaranteed to be "the next Cat" in my personal view. As my WR5 with potential to be a WR2 status, that's worth waiting on adding a kicker until after morning games are played on week 1.
I have been following him for some time, a few years ago he was to replace Moss. They had high hopes. Last year he did great early on after lasiks surgery. They thought the reason he couldn't catch was because he could not see. I agree that there must be some talent there and these types of guys can make a season. I had Walter and Bryant last year. Williamson has made me feel like a bride left at the altar to many times. So yeah, I may take a flier.
Troy got seriously injured this weekend. The Philadelphia Inquirer said it is season ending. Jags coach hadn't heard that. From Rotoworld:
Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio claimed Monday that he hasn't heard Troy Williamson's shoulder injury is season ending.
Profootballtalk was the first to report that Williamson's 2009 season is over, and the Florida Times Union confirmed his torn labrum. The Jags haven't put Williamson on I.R. yet, so perhaps they're getting a second opinion.
He was dropped in both my leagues after 3rd & 4th preseason game, where he regressed to his old self. It didn't look like he would do anything after week 1's performance.
Typical year for Williamson, if it isn't his play that bogs him down its injuries. I don't know why year in year out this guy gets so hyped up, I mean come on with the WR core Minnesota had at the time they drafted him he could have been a fullout stud. But when the Vikes dumped him I knew it was all but over for Williamson. Guy has great speed and above average hands, but has a terrible work ethic and his routes are average at best. I'll wait for this thread again next year when he has 2 great preseason games and the 'hypometer' climbs through the roof just to be knock plummeting to the ground 2-3 weeks later, happens every damn year.

Really? You knew? Some people just need a change of scenery. It most certainly would not be the first time. I suppose you knew Benson was done when the Bears get rid of him too, huh? I'm just saying, I tend to think that I'm not just a bandwagon jumper when people have a good preseason and frankly barring that I still thought/think he could turn out to put up some numbers somewhere down the line. If he sticks with the Jags, Garrard has a good arm, and can put it out there for Williamson to chase down. Now I don't think he's gonna be a guy that will be a fantasy starter every week, he's a deep ball threat, he's crazy fast, he's got good hands and as you mentioned he doesn't run the greatest routes, but you don't have to run great routes when you're that damn fast. Case in point - guys like Devin Hester. Or even Lee Evans for that matter, even though he's clearly a much better route runner than those guys, he's essentially strictly a deep ball threat. Even if some people will deny it. That doesn't mean he doesn't have his place in fantasy football, merely that he's not gonna start on my roster each week. Anyhow, I still don't wanna count him out, he's too talented to count him out.
