My back!

Postby Metroid » Mon Aug 24, 2009 11:26 am

Oh man...I'm not sure but I think I may have seriously hurt my back. I was lifting some heavy boxes out in the storage shed and really pulled something. I can't really stand up straight without excruciating pain. When I'm laying flat on my back it isn't too bad but I had to waddle like Quasimodo into the house. This is not good because I still have SO much to do. :-t

uh oh.. take a pain pill/anti-inflammant and give your sofa some quality time. Heating pad couldn't hurt, either. Think it's a muscle pull, or something deeper?

I took three ibuprofen and am flat on my bed right now...I have no idea where our heating pad is. If I can handle it I'm gonna try to take a hot shower in a bit. I'm starting to get hungry.....the kitchen is so far away though. :~(

I'm pretty sure it's just a pulled muscle. Think I should take some aspirin too? :-?

If it's a pulled muscle I think ice is better for it than heat.

Cold reduces inflammation, heat improves circulation. You're supposed to use cold first, then heat once the inflammation subsides a bit. That's the way I've always done it.

That's why they make icy-hot patches and not hot-icy patches! :-)

Thanks for the advice! it's funny, right after you mentioned cold instead of heat Shannon called and said the same thing. I have an ice pack on it right now. ;-D

Ice to reduce initial swelling, heat for circulation. Not sure if a pulled muscle is going to swell much.

Avoid the whiskey. That'll just get ya feeling too good and loose and you'll hurt it even worse.
