Need to Make a Spot... Get Creative? HELP!! WHIR!!!

Postby MAXIMIS » Mon Aug 24, 2009 11:42 am

Ok. I want to improve my team. I'm looking for advice. Maybe a 2 for 1 trade so that I can at least get a kicker. Also Josh Morgan SF WR#1 is in Free Agents (12 team league 15 per roster, no ppr) so that's something to consider too. I'm all about trading away 2 for 1 if it improves my team. I actually have a possible future Lynch and Parker for AP but he won't do at least until after Lynch is activated. What moves should I try to make in the meantime??? (Normally I'd drop a tight end but VD is getting lots of looks and Z.Miller has a great set-up and was solid last year. Because I had to take an available late 2nd round Tom Brady it screwed up my plan to grab a top tier TE. That looks to be my weakness but TE's were over-valued and went early in my league so I waited.)

Here's my roster 12 Team no ppr standard yahoo: start: 1 qb, 2 rb, 2 wr , 1 wr/rb flex, 1 te, 1 def, 1 k
QB: Brady, Edwards
RB: Forte, Lynch, Parker, Rice, J.Jones
WR: Jennings, Ocho Cinco, Holt, Hester, Bennett
TE: V.Davis, Z.Miller
DEF: Green Bay
K: (EMPTY)

So you're wanting a stud TE? I could see you offering a solid 2-for-1 by trying either QB/TE, RB/TE, or even WR/TE. Something like Edwards/Davis, Rice/Miller, Hester/Davis for one of the big name TEs. Look at your opponents' rosters. If there is an owner with a stud TE but weak in one of those 3 spots you might see if he'll bite.

I wouldn't offer Edwards though unless there is a solid backup QB on waivers. I think your best bet is to offer a WR and try to get Morgan (or someone else like Bess/Crayton) after you deal. It's usually easier to find WRs later in the year off waivers.

There might even be some promising RBs in FA, like Coffee or F Jones. If so you might lean toward the RB/TE deal.

You might get the owner to throw in a kicker, but I wouldn't worry about that too much if it's a deal breaker. There are bound to be some kickers in FA you can pick up.

Good luck, and please see mine:

The first one you should put out for a trade is Torry Holt..i'm not a believer in his ability as of now. I am expecting a lot more from Hester and Bennett and if you can get morgan from the WW you'll be set at WR.

Put Holt and Miller out for an even better TE and find you another K from the WW. You can even put J. Jones out there..because there probably are a lot of sleeper RB on the WW.

So your just wanting to upgrade at TE?

I don't see a real way to get that. I would keep your core 4 RB"s and your core 4 WR's together. You have a well rounded team. Flip flop each week with Miller and Davis based on match up.

Look around for another team with two TE's. Maybe you land Carlson,Keller,Winslow type but to get a top 5 like Olsen,Gonzo,Gates,Witten your going to have to give up to much IMO.

Drop your worst WR or worst RB for a kicker.

The only way you're going to drastically upgrade your TE spot is if you give up too much for them. The majority of time when people take the tier1 TE (gates, clark, gonzalez, witten) they over-value them and wont give them up for a round 8 WR and a round 12 TE.

Offer up Parker and Holt for a WR upgrade. I actually think Miller is a great breakout candidate, and I DO NOT believe in VD at all. He is garbage and I really see no reason why he would succeed. I'd look to upgrade WR depth.

To get a top tier TE will be tough. You'd have to give up a lot as the other posters have said. That said it would be worth a shot to throw out Holt / Davis for one of the top tiers. not sure if anyone would be willing to bite. I'd also say that there should be a decent kicker in FA
