My 1st ever Auction Draft. How'd I do?

Postby organist » Mon Aug 24, 2009 2:44 pm

Hey folks.

Some unusual scoring settings here, with special teams counting as DEF and WR/RB pts (if they return kicks/punts)
Please take a look and see how I did. I almost got Peyton (my bid of $21 was accepted until everyone discovered that my max bid was $20... so I lost him... GARGH!)

10 team league.
All TDs are 6pts
20 Rec yds = 1pt
10 Rush yds = 1pt
20 Pass yds = 1pt
Special teams count as DEF scoring; 20 rtn yds = 1pt
Kick and punt returners score 20yds = 1pt too

Turnovers = -2
Kickers and pts against are pretty standard.

My Team:
QB.... Jay Cutler
RB.... Steve Slaton
RB.... DeAngelo Williams
WR... Roy Williams
WR... Reggie Wayne
WR... Eddie Royal
TE.... Antonia Gates
K...... Garrett Hartley (I only found out after the draft about his upcoming suspension)
DEF... Dallas

BN... Eli Manning
BN... Chester Taylor
BN... Darren Sproles
BN... Julius Jones
BN... Donnie Avery

I think you'll be fine with Cutler, let's hope. With Plexiglass out, Eli doesn't have a lot of options to throw to...I'm guessing they will be running the ball this year.

looking at the scoring system, you did GREAT..

those point distributions give RBs extra value.. and i think you have RBs that will eat up yards and score TDs.. On top of that, you have a very solid WR core, and a top-3 tight end. Don't worry, you'll win games often.

I'd say for a first ever draft you did quite well. In a ten man league I'd say you're right on par to be competetive. Cutler will be fine..he started to look sharp in the last game he started. All that talent with a great RB and a decent def. He'll be fine. Good QB's make no named WR's look good...so I don't buy the whole "he has no one to pass to" argument. I guess I'll never understand what's the fascination with Eli. He is simply NOT a good fantasy QB. And is the opposite of Cutler...he needs a good play maker WR on his team to make him look good. Great game manager...yes. Slaton is fun to watch starting for a very explosive offense and Williams continues to look better and better as the injury bug continues to feast on Stewarts legs. YOu have a solid starting lineup with Wayne, Williams and Royal. Out of that bunch I see Royal emerging with the better numbers...believe it. Marshall is still practicing with the second string and has joked he doesn't know the new play book. He's a lost cause in my book and Royal looked sharp catching some great passes from Orton the other night. Wayne...he'll put up the yardage like he alwasy does but he is not a TD monster. Check the facts..INDY is all about the RB and TE in the redzone. Owned him last year..it's quite frustrating. ON the bench you have a couple of above average backups and a starter for your RB's. Not bad but this may come around to bite you. Avery should be fine once his foot heals and pray it isn't something that lingers. Look to see who's on the wire for another backup QB.

good luck ;-D

Thanks for the input!

Like I said, I was going for (and oh so nearly got) Manning (Peyton; should have clarified which, since I DID get the other...). QB I am not hasppy with. I took the only decent oiption left (Cutler) and took Eli for the minimum $1 as a backup. Yeah, I know he sucks.

Anyway, I was worried about DeAngelo Williams and Slaton as my two RB, but I feel better now.

Thanks folks.
