7th Draft position PPR league WHIR

Postby NoExcuses » Mon Aug 24, 2009 3:17 pm

I drew the 7th draft position in a PPR league, before the draft the commissioner reminded everyone this was a PPR league (which i wanted to smack him for doing so, but it didn't seem to matter) and I still wound up with THIS roster:

QB - T. Romo DAL (5th round 49th overall)
RB - B. Westbrook PHI (4th round 42nd overall)
RB - R. Bush NO (4th round 47th overall)
Flex - T. Owens BUF (3rd round 31st overall)
WR - A. Johnson HOU (1st round 7th overall)
WR - A. Boldin ARI (2nd round 24th overall)
TE - Z. Miller OAK (9th round 103rd overall)
D/ST - Cowboys (15th round 175th overall)
K - R. Longwell MIN (14th round 162nd overall)

BENCH
RB D. Ward TB (7th round 73rd overall)
RB F. Jones DAL (8th round 90th overall)
RB L. Washington NYJ (11th round 127th overall) - this was my only sour spot in the draft as i was eyeing R. Rice BAL as a sleeeeeeeper, and he went 126th :(
WR B. Robiskie CLE (12th round 138th overall)
WR P. Crayton DAL (13th round 151st overall)
WR D. Heyward-Bey OAK (16th round 186th overall)
TE M. Bennett DAL (undrafted free agent)

TRADES:
I was involved in 3 draft-day trades:
I traded my 2nd round pick (17th overall) and received the last pick in the 2nd round (24th overall) and the first pick in the 5th round (49th overall)
I traded my later 5th round pick (55th overall) and my 6th round pick (66th overall) to get an extra 4th round pick (47th overall)
I traded my 7th round pick (79th overall) and my 10th round pick (114th overall) to move up and get the first pick of the 7th round (73rd overall)

thanks for your comments on my draft as well.

Love Westy and Bush in PPR leagues. You've also got a monster WR unit. I think Boldin will be more of a presence this year as Fitzy was getting all of the attention towards the end of last year.

Thanks for the comments about my team homie!

First, I see that u may be a cowboys fan! HAHA me too. Anyone that snags bennett has to be. I dont know how many ppl u have in your league, but there has to be someone out there for you to grab instead of him. Overall tho, tha team looks pretty solid...especially for a ppr league!

its a 12-man league.. yes I am a dallas fan, and I was even thinking of taking Sam Hurd over Darrius Heyward-Bey. I believe that Bennett will have a huge year and someone took Witten in the 5th round and I wasn't looking to get a TE until the 8th, so I waited.. I didn't draft Bennett, since I traded away more picks that I received, after the draft I had an empty roster spot. Decided I'd fill it with a guy who has huge upside and may be trade bait late in the season, or possibly my starter if Witten goes down.

Thanks for seeing mine.

I love your lineup. Which Romo will show up this year? As a fan... you should know...? :)

Bush and Westy so valuable in PPR, but have shown injuries with size in the past... keep a close eye on that IMO.
If TO does well early, I would to trade him while he is high before it gets cold and he starts whining...! lol

Good luck

I like ur roster alot for PPR although I agree about the health concerns to both ur starting RBs. I also think that TO isn't the best option in PPR. I would try to package him with F. Jones and trade for a better RB or WR that catches the ball more for the flex. I see L. Evans benifiting more from TO's presence. TO should approach double digit TDs as a major red zone threat but I doubt he'll break 70 catches and he may only have like high 50s. Plus he is older and has bashed his QBs in Philly and Dallas and McNabb and Romo are both better that Edwards, so what's he going to end up saying to him?

Please rank my squad too

Good work on Andre with the 7th pick. He's a beast in PPR and I love him at that spot. I actually like him more than Fitz, as I think he was better than him last year aside from TD's which are random to predict. Also, Fitz caught 6 of 12 TDs with Boldin sidelined, so with Boldin around the whole season you gotta think those numbers are in line to drop. Good work there.

I agree with the others about RB volatility. I'm wary of doubling down on Bush and Westbrook. I'd rather the risk of one or the other but not both. Given your bench RB, however, it wouldn't be a huge problem were one to go down. If a trade is out there for someone more stable, I wouldnt hate it if you made a move.

Great team overall though.

ROMO - should be in for less stressful year without TO. should translate into big performance on the field now that the locker room is not an episode of the "Real World"

WESTBROOK - obviously a stud if healthy (big IF), and MCCOY doesn't vulture touches.

BUSH - good in PPR, again health a key issue.

BOLDIN - very productive and consistent. dependable, especially in that offense.

OWENS - can be studly, depends on qb EDWARDS and effectiveness of running game (LYNCH suspension may hurt TO early in season).

A. JOHNSON - flat out stud, especially in ppr.

MILLER - sleeper. depends on maturation of qb RUSSELL. pretty good for 9th round, though.

COWBOYS D - alot of sacks. need more td's. solid, though.

LONGWELL - dime a dozen. yours is just as good as anyone elses.

overall, very solid starters with huge upside. some injury risk, but that goes with the territory. bench pretty iffy, especially at wide receiver. no backup qb. WARD and JONES as backup rb's have potential, good mid-round picks. seems to me you should have a pretty good year- playoff caliber team. good luck.

later, man.
